Come join our team of clinicians, innovators, operators, and technologists, passionate about setting a new standard in maternity care.About the Role:Oula is looking for a full-time Laborist to participate in collaborative care with the Oula midwifery team in the inpatient setting. We're looking for a thoughtful and passionate leader who will provide obstetrical and postpartum care for patients and collaborate with our midwifery team at Mount Sinai West. This position is 100% clinical and inpatient on the Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, Antepartum floors. Obstetrical care entails providing direct patient care for patients who need OB/GYN care, co-management of care with our midwifery team for patients who rise to a higher level of medical risk and have complex labor courses including the need for operative delivery. The Oula Laborist is responsible for ensuring ongoing collaboration with the Oula midwifery team and the MSW Resident/LaboristNursing teams to ensure high quality care is being provided. This position reports to the Oula Medical Director for the NYC Region.This is a full time, temporary contract position. The initial contract is a six month period with the possibility of extension and/or permanent hire. This role benefits-eligible position and the base annual salary range is $285,000-$310,000 as part of a competitive compensation package.Key Responsibilities:- Provide coverage for 14 (12 hour) shifts per month on the MSW Labor & Delivery (L&D) floor as Oula Ob/Gyn which includes caring for Oula patients who need OB/GYN coverage and co-managing patients with the Oula midwifery team. Currently the requirement is to be in house if Oula has patients on the L&D floor.- Cover Oula 1st call shifts as needed in staffing shortages/emergency situations. These shifts to be included in the total 14 count.- Round on, care for and discharge Oula postpartum patients who have had operative deliveries and/or are higher risk patients needing care coordination.- Round on, care for and discharge Oula patients who have been readmitted to the hospital.- Round on, care for and discharge Oula patients on the antepartum service as needed to follow up MFM recommendations.- Participate in the education and training of new midwives, residents and medical and midwifery students.- Other inpatient responsibilities as required by Mount Sinai West for Oula Ob/Gyn providersAbout You:- Passionate about maximizing low intervention birth and centering evidence based practices in Obstetrics.- Passionate about participating in a collaborative care program dedicated to improving the quality of maternity care- Enthusiastic about patient-centered collaborative care models, especially those that leverage midwives- Dedicated to ensuring clear, timely complete cross functional and interpersonal communication- Experienced in overseeing and collaborating with midwives- Excited by the potential for tech to transform the pregnancy experience and drive greater personalization in terms of care- Exude empathy and compassion for patients and team members and can bring everyone together around a shared vision of providing exceptional patient experience- Dedicated to ongoing quality improvement- Dedicated to supporting key principles of body autonomy, self determination and cultural respectDesired Experience & Qualifications:- MD or DO- Residency in obstetrics / gynecology- At least 3-5 years of experience in obstetrics following residency/fellowship, preferably with a focus on obstetrics- Experience building and/or managing clinical programs- Great patients reviews and reputation for exceptional patient care and bedside manner- Experience coaching and/or collaborating with midwives- Licensed to practice medicine in New York StateOula offers a competitive total rewards package which includes base salary, and comprehensive benefits.
