Phelps Memorial Hospital Center is a 238-bed acute care community hospital, located in central Westchester County. Since its beginnings in 1956, Phelps has strived to provide its community with the finest quality healthcare. The extent of services made available to those we serve ranges from emergency services to acute care inpatient services, as well as a host of outpatient services designed to address the needs of those who make up the Phelps service area (Westchester County and surrounding communities in Rockland, Putnam, and Dutchess Counties in New York and Fairfield County in Connecticut).
At Phelps Hospital, our highly trained staff is dedicated to providing mothers and families with the knowledge, confidence and skills necessary to care for their newborns during this special time. Phelps has been officially designated as a Baby-Friendly hospital by Baby-Friendly USA, a global initiative of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). This recognition is awarded to facilities that successfully implement policies that create a culture of support for education and skill development to provide an optimal level of care in infant feeding and promote bonding within new families. Phelps Hospital fosters a family-centered approach to the childbirth experience. Phelps offers state-of-the-art birthing rooms with multi-positioned birthing beds and advanced equipment. The birthing center, postpartum unit and special care nursery are all on the same floor, which contributes to the effectiveness of our enhanced security. The unit on which the postpartum area is located remains locked.
