About Woodward Resource Center (WRC)
At WRC, an Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) state-operated specialty care facility, our mission is to prepare and support individuals to in the community of their choice. From the moment of admission, we prioritize quality care and support that is personalized to each individual's unique needs and aspirations. As part of the WRC team, you will play a vital role in facilitating the adaptation of a person's environment so that it better suits them and the things they want and need to do in their daily life.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide Occupational Therapy services to assigned individuals in a caseload.
* Develop habilitating programs so that each person's needs are met in areas of self-help, upper extremity function, sensory, environmental control, adapted devices and aids, community survival skills, and swallowing/nutritional management.
* Train staff providing direct support services as needed to increase knowledge and provide support for individual progress.
* Participate in individual's annual reviews/scheduled meetings related to individual programs and progress.
* Collaborate as an interdisciplinary team member in program development and implementation.
* Maintain departmental records, reports, and individual's materials.
* Attend professional meetings, workshops, and trainings to meet continuing education requirements.
Key Competencies:
* Sound understanding of the physical, environmental, and psychological aspects of intellectual disabilities and their correlation with quality of life.
* Familiarity with treatment techniques aimed at helping people do all the things that they want and need to do in their daily lives.
* Competence in utilizing specialized equipment and materials for the assessment and treatment of occupational therapy problems, including adaptive equipment, wheelchairs, positioning chairs, utensils, and splints
