Responsibilities:

Purpose of Position

The purpose of this position is to provide evaluation, individual treatment to assigned residents.

Position Functions and Responsibilities

  • Understands and promotes Elizabeth Seton Childrens Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure application with organizational policies and procedures.

  • Responsible for providing evaluation and treatment to patients with a variety of different diagnoses including providing direct therapy services and development of new program.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing evaluation of residents, upon request of physician.
  • Establish, formulate and administer treatment plans in accordance with the philosophies of occupational therapy and the Pediatric Center.
  • Record each patients response to treatment in the form of a progress note and a discharge summary in accordance with state regulations.
  • Coordinate O.T. treatment programs with other interdisciplinary staff to provide continuity and consistency in care.
  • Evaluate and train patients in activities of daily living.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with family and health care workers as appropriate to patient care.
  • Engage in the in-service education to enhance clinical and professional competence.
  • Assist in the in-service education of the interdisciplinary staff on an ongoing basis.
  • Administer treatment to a patient caseload and provide documentation in accordance with approved utilization review criteria and state regulations affecting occupational therapy.
  • Design, fabricate and monitor adaptive equipment for their clients in collaboration with other team members. Participate in Adaptive Equipment Clinic and Wheelchair clinic as needed. Refer to Adaptive Equipment procedures for details and clarifications.
  • Work harmoniously with departmental and interdisciplinary staff.
  • To maintain daily attendance records, (both Pediatric Center and Board of Education) progress notes, initial evaluation and treatment programs, patient appointment schedules, and submit monthly statistics.
  • Attend all interdisciplinary meetings in accordance with the policies of the Rehabilitation Department at the Pediatric Center.
  • Provide brief update on patients progress in writing to O.T. Supervisor and/or their designated replacement to report to team at Plan of Care and Psychiatric meetings.
  • To participate in carrying out a therapeutic aquatic program in the Pool, once CPR certified.
  • To act as Liaison Therapist: To establish a relationship and communication with all outside school therapists treating our children and disseminate this information to all specific care meetings i.e. Plan of Care, Orthopedic Clinic, Psychiatric Clinic, Wheelchair Clinic, Adapted Wheelchair Clinic, Adapted Equipment Clinic.
  • To serve as a clinical instructor when our O.T. student affiliates at this facility.
  • To act as clinical coordinator of the student affiliation program when assigned by O.T. Supervisor. This includes management and ongoing communication with all affiliating universities, O.T. Supervisor, clinical instructors, staff O.T.s and O.T. students.
  • To perform tasks related to the Coleman program as deemed necessary by the Director of Rehabilitation/Clinical Supervisor/Pediatric Center Administrator.
  • To assist Clinical Supervisor in any further responsibilities not previously mentioned as dictated by changing needs of the rehabilitation department.
  • Other related duties as may become necessary or as directed by your supervisor, department director, and/or administrator.
Qualifications:

Education and License/Certification Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree; Masters degree preferred
  • NYS OT License
  • NYS OT Certification
Experience:

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 years pediatric OT experience

Salary Range:

$85,000.00/Yr. To $95,000.00/Yr.
