Job Type Part-time Description GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Occupational Therapist, working as part of a multidisciplinary team provides services to patients who have impairments, functional limitations, or disabilities resulting from injury, disease or other causes. The OT will plan, evaluate, organize, and implement occupational therapy treatment programs in a developmentally and age-appropriate manner to improve, regain and develop the skills needed for day to day life and work. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: • Provides skilled occupational therapy treatment plans in accordance with physician/APP orders and by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results of patients • Formulates comprehensive treatment program by evaluating patient's past medical history, disease/condition, impairments, disability and functional/developmental status and social determinants of health inventory • Develops measurable long-term and short-term goals • Recommends appropriate adaptive equipment and/or termination of treatment when appropriate • Monitor patient response to treatment intervention • Prioritize and assess patient and family needs regarding their level of understanding, readiness to learn, ability to assimilate information and the most desirable method of teaching • Develop and instruct the patient and family for appropriate home treatment programs • Completes all documentation in accordance with professional, organizational, regulatory and facility's corporate compliance standards • Maintains written and verbal communication regarding patient and departmental concerns, and submits accurate billing information • Coordinate with the patient's primary care provider and other medical professionals • Participates in teaching, including annual in-service to peers • Participates as a clinical instructor for students • Promotes and contributes to all infection control policies and protocols which are designed to maintain the cleanliness and readiness of all clinic and general staff areas • Participates with departmental quality improvement activities • Demonstrates excellence in both internal and external customer service. • Understands and is able to effectively communicate HIPAA compliance, corporate compliance and client confidentiality. • Ensures and/or remains in compliance with local, state, and federal regulation, i.e. DHHS HRSA and NYSDOH, and all accreditation standards (e.g. Joint Commission and NCQA-PCMH). • Adheres to the National Patient Safety Goals as defined by the Joint Commission and Whitney M. Young Jr. Health Center. • Completes other duties as assigned. Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an approved Occupational Therapy program with a Bachelor of Science, Master's degree or Clinical Doctorate of occupational therapy degree. Current NYS Occupational Therapy license and registration. At least two (2) years OT experience. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Effective oral and written communication skills. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with using an integrated electronic health record (EHR) that is shared by primary care, behavioral health and other allied health disciplines. and prior experience precepting OT students in a clinical practice setting.
