Activities: Performs Occupational Therapy assessments and develops and implements treatment plans focusing on improving/restoring independence and physical/cognitive functioning. Provides guidance & instruction to recipients/family members of developed therapeutic, creative, and self-care procedures/activities and explains adaptive, progressive approaches and compensatory strategies. Recommends, consults and writes letters for medically necessary recipient equipment. Conducts functional, cognitive, and sensory re-evaluations, as indicated, to assess the need for any revisions in the treatment plan. Instructs and familiarizes the recipient and pertinent family members with all aspects of the total treatment plan. Completes Family Training as appropriate with family members/caregivers to ensure maximum benefit and continuation of treatment to enhance daily living skills. Maintains adequate clinical documentation and progress notes. Submits all required paperwork in a timely manner according to ExpertCare policy. Periodically reports to the physician on the recipient's treatment, response, and progress, and assists the physician in determining any necessary changes in the treatment plan. Provides consultation to other members of the recipient's care team in the use of necessary equipment, techniques, modalities, and basic activity programs, when needed. Maintains & updates professional competency through in-service attendance & professional resources. Participates in staff meetings and case conferences as required. *Services are provided within the recipient's home. Must be willing to drive, either within Macomb and Wayne counties. Predominately pediatric clients, some young adults.
Hard Skills and Education - Licensed as an Occupational Therapist by the State of Michigan
- B.S. or M.S. in Occupational Therapy from school accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (Only an Associate's degree is required for a COTA)
- Valid Driver's License
Experience - 1+ year working as an Occupational Therapist.
- Pediatric experience strongly preferred.
