Job Description: Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh is hiring an Occupational Therapist to work at the main hospital in the Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh.\n The Occupational Therapist provides occupational therapy evaluation and treatment to children and adolescents referred to CHP or facilities contracted with CHP. Occupational therapists collaborate with the family and medical team to optimize the child's functional self-care and fine motor abilities.Responsibilities:\n\nDevelops and maintains effective communication with peers and leadership within the dept, health care team members within CHP and outside referring physicians and school personnel.\nPursues professional growth and development through participation in departmental in-services, literature discussions, continuing education and the quest of knowledge and research relevant to areas of practice and the mission and vision of CHP and the department\nIntegrate family centered care through the education of caregivers in appropriate activities for carryover of goals and intervention in the home and community settings. Communicates significant changes in the child's status to the physician.\nPerforms occupational therapy assessment and re-assessment using objective tests and measures or standardized assessments to identify the child's functional abilities and impairments impeding their function.\nAssists with clinical instruction for physical therapy students, job shadow students, and other student related observations.\nDevelops and implements an appropriate treatment intervention plan which reflects clinical knowledge, evaluation findings and is updated and modified based on the patient's response and progress.\nEstablishes a plan of care with long-term and short-term goals to remediate the impairments and functional limitations identified during the evaluation process.\nMaintains written/electronic documentation for all clinical services rendered including documentation of the initial assessment, re-assessment, cancellations, follow-up visits, and discharge summary which meets or exceeds the standard established for the facility by the organization. Completes certification and re-certification required by third party payers.\nParticipate in and is supportive of departmental projects (lectures to Hospital staff, community education, research, and strategic plan).\nRecommends, orders, and/or fabricates necessary splints, adaptive devices and durable medical equipment in consultation with the patient, family and interdisciplinary team.\n\nGraduate of an accredited program approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).\nPrefer previous pediatric experience including student fieldwork.\nMust possess knowledge and skills required to provide quality customer service.\nMust possess knowledge of normal human growth and development over the lifespan.\nMust be able to read, understand, analyze, and interpret medical record documents.\nMust be skilled in planning/organization, follow up/control, delegation, problem solving, self-development orientation, organizational behaviors/competencies, and stress tolerance.\nExcellent interpersonal, written and communication skills Compliance with regulations of accrediting bodies, including but not limited to: Current American Heart Association CPR Health Care Provider Certification.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:\nAct 31 Clearance with renewal\nAct 33 Clearance with renewal\nAct 34 Clearance with renewal\nAct 73 FBI Clearance with renewal\nCPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire\nBasic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)\nNational Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)\nOccupational Therapist (OT)\n\n UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
