Position Type: Pupil Personnel Services/Occupational Therapist Date Posted: 7/12/2024 Location: Multiple Location Date Available: 10/01/2024 Closing Date: Until Filled Leave Replacement 2024/2025 School Year Job Title: Occupational Therapist (Leave replacement) Job Category: Department/Group: PPS/OT Job Description Job Summary: Under the direction of the Director of PPS and School Principal(s), screen, assess and identify students with fine motor and sensory needs which adversely affect their educational progress. Develop and provide direct and indirect services within the student's educational setting, based on established IEP goals and Section 504 Plans. Minimum Qualifications:
  • NYS Professional License as an Occupational Therapist
  • Expereince in a school setting is preferred
Primary Activities
  • Prepares written evaluations and maintains records which clearly and succinctly document services provided, student progress and discharge from therapy
  • Complies with evaluation standards
  • Effectively communicates test results, diagnosis and proposed treatment plans.
  • Participates in the multidisciplinary team process regarding eligibility, Individual Education Plan (IEP) development, consultation services and service delivery models
  • Assures compliance with established state and federal laws, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Prepares reports as needed by the local school district and/or the Department of Education
  • Develops treatment plans consistent with the IEP
  • Reviews therapy goals and makes recommendations for changes as appropriate to the CSE Committee/Section 504 Committee
  • Employs instructional/therapeutic methods and materials that are appropriate for meeting each student's goals
  • Operates and maintains a variety of therapeutic equipment and trains others in use of the equipment as necessary
  • Assesses, selects and develops approrpiate tools for us in therapy sessions
  • Adheres to state law regarding the type and amount of supervision required for licensed occupational therapist assistant(s)
  • Other duties, as required
Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee:
  • is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit.
  • Is regularly required to climb, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and to reach above the head and reach forward.
  • Is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls and to talk and hear.
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have specific vision abilities for close vision, distance vision, depth perception and tell the difference between colors
Work Environment
  • The noise level in the work environment is typical for a school environment.
  • Work generally performed indoors with limited outside supervision of students.
