POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides treatments to patients by evaluating function and selecting appropriate treatments to improve or restore function. Participates in interdisciplinary approaches for in-service and community education and clinical education of affiliating students. May be responsible for cross-site coverage.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program with a minimum of a B.S.
- Current or eligible for Connecticut license.
COMPETENCIES:
- Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficient in the use of Windows-based programs needed for department function. Basic skills in Outlook, Word, and Excel preferred.
- Access to reliable transportation for cross-site coverage and travel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Evaluates patients based on departmental standards.
- Conducts and modifies evaluations based on patient's symptoms, level of activity, and medical status to establish individualized goals.
- Treats patients with appropriate therapeutic exercises and physical agents.
- Educates patients/families in home exercise programs and functional activities.
- Documents in accordance with insurance guidelines and department's policies and procedures.
- Supervises at least one affiliated student per year.
- Attends continuing education courses to improve treatment techniques.
- Participates in departmental and community in-services.
