Come join our team and discover your passion.Job DescriptionAHRC NYC is looking to hire a Part-Time Occupational Therapist for their Dickson-Goodman residence. PAY RATE: $70-75 per hour. SCHEDULE: 8 hours per week....you pick the schedule!LOCATION: 126 East 126th Street in ManhattanThe Occupational Therapist is responsible for evaluating the person's level of physical functioning and works with the person supported and staff to provide training and/or assistive devices to eliminate or reduce areas of deficit, usually associated with fine motor disorders and functioning. The Occupational Therapist also works with other professional staff to establish rehabilitation and maintenance goals and activities.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIESEvaluates occupational therapy needs of persons supported and provides occupational therapy services as ordered by Physician/Nurse Practitioner.Evaluates, instructs, and monitors specific functional exercise programs to increase strength, range of motion, and coordination of upper extremities.Provides assistive and/or adaptive equipment to assist with activities of daily living needs.Teaches the use of assistive/adaptive equipment to person supported and staff to achieve maximum independence.Evaluates and treats cognitive perceptual defects.Maintains records for each person treated by documenting general information, provisional diagnoses, special precautions, description of treatment rendered, records of visits, and discharge summary.Ensures initial evaluations are completed upon admissionMakes physician contact, followed by written reports, documenting initial findings, goals, treatment frequency, and estimated length of service.Conducts ongoing communication with Physician/Nurse Practitioner concerning information that influences or changes the provision of services, including any unusual situations observed during service.Participates in interdisciplinary care planning for the person's needs.Re-evaluates persons every 3 months to assess progress attained and completes written progress reports to be filed in person's records.Consult with other members of the health team to coordinate therapeutic programs for the person.Completes all necessary documentation within seven (7) days of service. Documentation includes the type of treatment given, the modality used, and the person's reaction.Submits discharge summaries at completion of services, including care provided, equipment ordered, and recommendations for follow-up care.Participates in Quality Assurance activities, as requested.Conducts other related tasks as needed or required.QualificationsCurrent licensure in New York State as an Occupational Therapist.Current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association in New York State.Graduate of Program in Occupational Therapy Curriculum, accredited jointly by Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association and American Occupational Therapy AssociationORGraduate of the curriculum in Occupational Therapy recognized by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists and eligible for Registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association.Minimum of one year of Occupational Therapy experience in a health care setting.Demonstration of considerable knowledge of current standards, procedures, and techniques of Occupational Therapy.Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.Proven capacity to work productively in highly collaborative settings and to seek and synthesize input from multiple stakeholders.Additional InformationAHRC New York City is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
