Description Position at Norwalk Hospital Association In-Patient Occupational Therapist Per Diem Opportunity!Rate: 60.00Schedule: 4 to 8 hour shifts on weekdays and weekends on an as-needed basis with availability to cover at least one weekend per month.Summary:Under the general supervision of the rehab manager or supervisor, performs therapy examinations, develops treatment plans and goals, and applies interventions in accordance with the Standards of Practice of the profession, applicable state licensure regulations, and hospital policies and procedures to a variety of patients ranging from newborn to geriatric in age in an acute care setting. Opportunity for rotation to outpatient sites may exist per operational need.Responsibilities:Performs therapy examinations, develops treatment plans, and establishes treatment goals with patient input. Provides care to special populations including Total Joint Replacement and Stroke as per hospital protocols. Delegates and supervises patient related tasks to assistants, aides, and support personnel. Supervises students as assigned. Collaborates with other disciplines to provide coordinated interdisciplinary patient care. Supports excellence of the organization and customer satisfaction. Contributes to the ongoing professional development of self, department, and the network. Manages time effectively and demonstrates willingness to work a variety of scheduling patterns within individual control hours. Makes independent decisions within the scope of defined job description, level of knowledge, skills and abilities but seeks guidance as necessary for performance of duties. Contributes to peer review as required. Utilizes evidence based practice and AOTA guidelines for patient care. Meets or exceeds productivity and documentation requirements. Accepts other duties as assigned. Adheres to all departmental and hospital policies. Accepts and utilizes feedback in a constructive manner and demonstrates respect for others in open and constructive communications. Meets minimum scheduling requirements per department.Education: BACHELOR'S LVL DGRERequired:Education: Graduate of an accredited curriculum with a minimum of a Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy. For individuals who completed appropriate Occupational Therapy education prior to 2015, with a valid Occupational Therapy license in the state of practice or proof of license eligibility, a Bachelor's degree or greater in Occupational Therapy will be accepted in lieu of the Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy. Current license to practice Occupational Therapy in Connecticut: Successful completion of minimum educational requirements for licensure including all clinical practice and comprehensive examinations. Temporary licensure may be considered at the discretion of the department manager. Current CPR Certification Meets continuing education requirements for state Licensure & CPR Certification Prefer: Previous experience delivering comprehensive care in an acute setting to patients with physical dysfunction secondary to disability, disease, or injury in accordance with professional standards of practice. Prefer: Previous experience with diagnoses including orthopedic, pulmonary, oncology, pain management, vestibular, amputations, multi-trauma, neurological and medically complex patients.Credentials:OT,FA/CPR/AED
