Salary: $65 per hourPart Time or full timeThe Occupational Therapist (OT) is responsible for performing student evaluations, developing and providing therapy services, and documenting services in accordance with the plan of care developed for each student.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Provides skilled occupational therapy services/interventions in accordance with physician ordersRegularly reevaluates student for rehabilitation needs, and works in collaboration with the physician and other members of the healthcare team to modify the plan of care as appropriateCollaborates with all disciplines to plan and evaluate team goals for each studentAssesses student's needs, plans for, evaluates and modifies care to meet goals of Occupational Therapy InterventionsInstructs student/family/caregivers on the student's total occupational therapy programAdvises, consults and instructs members of the multi-disciplinary team in specific occupational therapy modalitiesObserves and reports student progress and/or changes in student status to the physician and appropriate multi-disciplinary team membersDirects OT treatment and develops occupational therapy plan of careRefers individuals to other disciplines as deemed appropriate and as approved by the physicianReports reaction to treatment and adverse signs and symptoms to the physician, building/district nurse and the parents/caregiversTeaches new skills or retrains students in once-familiar daily activities that have become difficult or unfamiliar due to illness or injuryEstablishes equipment needs to facilitate independent functioningInstructs student and family/caregiver in the use of various types of adaptive equipment to improve function; ensures equipment is in good working orderTrains student and family/caregiver in use of prosthetic and/or orthotic devicesProvides accurate and timely documentation according to the plan of careParticipates in IEP conferences or other meetings as required to ensure coordination of health services (if applicable)Prepares and submits clinical progress-summary based on the progress of goalsSupervises Occupational Therapy Assistants according to company policies/procedures and State regulationsComplies with applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations regarding professional standards and practice standardsMay fabricate splints and instruct individual and/or family/caregiver in the use, application and benefitsPerforms other duties as assigned/necessaryMinimum Requirements:Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the State of practiceOne (1) year of prior professional Occupational Therapy experience preferredParticipation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicableCurrent CPR if applicableTB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicableCurrent Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)Must meet all federal, state and local requirementsSuccessful completion of new hire training as applicable to job siteUnderstand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirementsAbility to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is requiredComputer proficiency requiredMust be at least 18 years of ageBenefitsAt Amergis, we firmly believe that our employees are the heartbeat of our organization and we are happy to offer the following benefits:Competitive pay & weekly paychecksHealth, dental, vision, and life insurance401(k) savings planAwards and recognition programs*Benefit eligibility is dependent on employment status.About AmergisAmergis, formerly known as Maxim Healthcare Staffing, has served our clients and communities by connecting people to the work that matters since 1988.
