What you'll do The COTA administers occupational therapy treatments, interventions, and/or physical agents under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist to restore function, improve physical abilities, promote behavioral changes, adapt surroundings, and/or teach new skills to achieve optimal physical and/or mental functioning in daily life tasks following injury, disease or physical disability. The COTA may provide treatment of patients in acute care, nursing home, short-term rehabilitation, and/or outpatient settings. Independently carries out OT treatment plan of care as established by Occupational Therapist Maintains licensure by obtaining required CEUs as determined by NYS Practice Act Adheres to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state and local requirements and Joint Commission (TJC) standards Demonstrates the ability to treat the assigned number of patients per day, and determine the need for follow up visits to maximize the functional outcomes Completes all required documentation following treatment, ensuring documentation reflects care provided and outcomes achieved Maintains current knowledge and awareness of insurance regulations related to provision of therapy services Acts fiscally responsible in use & request of supplies, and in submitting patient charges in a timely manner Coordinates patient care with other clinical team members ensuring optimal patient care and communication Maintains and enhances personal and professional knowledge, as well as promoting professional standards in occupational therapy Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a team inter- and intradepartmentally to facilitate the departments ability to meet its goals and objectives Additional duties as assigned What we need from you Education: 2 year/Associate from an accredited OTA program, required Experience may be considered in lieu of education Experience: Experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant prior to employment is preferred. New graduates will be considered Licensure/Certifications: NYS Occupational Therapy Assistant License or valid temporary permit, required BLS CPR - within 6 months from date of hire, required Skills: Clinical Skills Communication Computer Skills Reading/Writing/Comprehension Creative Thinking Time Management Organizing/Categorizing records Attention to Detail Interacting with People Reading/Writing/Comprehension Physical Requirements: Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 lbs. for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects Occasional balancing, climbing, crouching, pulling, pushing, repetitive motion, stooping Frequent typing/clerical/dexterity, grasping, kneeling, lifting, reaching, seeing/monitor/computer use, talking, visual acuity (color, depth, perception) Constant hearing, fit testing Hazards: Frequent bodily fluids/bloodborne exposure Working Conditions: Occasional extreme temperatures Travel: Occasional Travel - The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis Total Rewards Bassett Healthcare Networks commitment to our employees includes benefit programs carefully designed with the needs and values of all our employees in mind. Pay Range Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. Pay Range Minimum: USD $22.88/Hr. Pay Range Maximum: USD $29.64/Hr.
