Overview The OTD Capstone Mentor provides one-on-one mentorship, to an OTD student, in developing, implementing, assessing, and disseminating the doctoral capstone project. The Capstone Mentor is identified by the OTD Program Director/Capstone Coordinator in collaboration with the student in term 2 OTHN 715: Program Development for Occupational Therapy. The Capstone Mentor meets regularly with the student and participates in the completion of the Capstone Mentorship Plan that clearly outlines the Mentor's roles and responsibilities while mentoring the student. The Capstone Mentor also assesses the student's performance in the capstone experience courses (OTHN 752: Capstone Project I and OTHN 755: Capstone Project II). Responsibilities The Capstone Mentor provides mentorship to the student within the capstone mentor's skills and expertise. The Mentor:
- Participates in completing the Capstone Mentorship Plan form to outline the mentor's roles and responsibilities clearly.
- Reviews and provides feedback to the student on the Capstone Program Goals and Objectives developed in OTHN 715: Program Development for Occupational Therapy.
- Oversees the student's plan of activities and ensures that the student implements and documents all activities performed during the duration of the capstone project implementation.
- Is available for regular individual student meetings, as outlined in the Capstone Mentorship Plan, to discuss progress on the doctoral capstone project. Meetings may be held via Zoom telephone in-person or any other communication method the mentor and student agree upon.
- Oversees student capstone scholarly activities such as IRB submissions, manuscripts, conference proposals and presentations, and/or grant applications in collaboration with course instructors.
- Completes an assessment of the student at the completion of each capstone experience course (OTHN 752: Capstone Project I and OTHN 755: Capstone Project II).
QualificationsEducation/ Experience
- Master's Degree required
- Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) or terminal doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DSc, etc.) from an accredited university or a Specialist Certification preferred
- Expertise in a field related to mentorship duties preferred
- Exhibited evidence of continued professional growth and development
- Licensed Occupational Therapist in good standing in state of residence
- Licensure in a related field will be considered based on the area of expertise
- Demonstrated commitment to the use of innovative instructional techniques and technologies

- The position is remote. Travel is not required.
