**Responsibilities:**

+ Verify essential patient information and records in both medical and computerized scheduling systems to ensure accuracy and compliance.

+ Schedule, coordinate, and reschedule patient appointments efficiently while relaying important messages to staff and providers as needed.

+ Greet and register patients with a polite and helpful demeanor, providing clear instructions and directions for their visit.

+ Notify the appropriate department or personnel of patient arrivals, performing check-in and check-out functions effectively.

+ Maintain a clean and orderly waiting area, including the beverage station and reading materials, to enhance patient comfort and experience.

+ Prepare patient charts in advance of upcoming appointments, ensuring all documentation is organized and readily available.

+ Answer telephone calls, screen inquiries, take messages, and provide relevant information regarding patient appointments and testing.

+ Keep physician schedules up to date, confirming appointments to optimize patient flow and minimize scheduling conflicts, while completing necessary paperwork such as encounter forms and referrals for billing purposes.

+ Maintain strict compliance with UPMC Health System policies and procedures, ensuring confidentiality of medical records and other sensitive data.

+ Utilize automated financial management system modules for efficient scheduling, information verification, charge entry, and co-payment collection, ensuring accurate reconciliation of accounts.

Required:

+ High school diploma or GED

+ 1 year work experience, preferably in a medical office setting

Preferred:

+ Knowledge of medical terminology

+ Word processing and computer experience
