Position Description
PurposeThis position is responsible for providing entry level clerical and general office tasks in support of the Material's Division office administrative functions. Primary responsibilities are to provide clerical assistance for aggregate materials sales by helping customers and providing minimal support for basic payroll processing, accounts receivable duties, and daily reporting. The position does not supervise any employees.
Focus & ScopeEssential duties and responsibilities, i.e. those which are basic, necessary, and an integral part of the job, are indicated below:
Provides product information for customers or sales support; answers questions, takes customer orders or submittal requests either in person or by phone in a manner that is positive, professional and clearly understood.Processes flow of general paperwork and various department reports as needed. At aggregate plant locations, may weigh and load materials into vehicles via a computer-based program to generate aggregate or asphalt invoice tickets. Assists on a minimal basis with the following functions:Payroll document processing or preparation.Accounts receivable duties.Receiving, classifying, and routing incoming mail.Performing banking duties.Promotes a Zero Injury culture through personal adherence to all company safety policies and practices.Relationships, Qualifications and Requirements, & Competencies Role Qualifications & RequirementsEducation:
- A High School diploma or G.E.D. or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience.
Specific Job Requirements:
- Prior work experience is not required.
- Must possess basic computer software skills including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Must demonstrate the ability to learn department and industry specific computer programs and systems such as JD Edwards, InfoView, Citrix, JWS, APEX, WinFax, Command Alkon, Quadrel, aggQC or Kronos.
- Must possess basic mathematical skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.
- Must possess a high level of customer service skills including patience, courtesy, and phone etiquette seeking assistance when needed.
- Must be able to clearly communicate and be understood both verbally and in written form by internal or external customers.
- Must possess ability to type general correspondence; perform filing and data entry duties.
- Must demonstrate an ability to work in a team environment and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff and management.
- Must possess a valid California Driver License and must maintain an acceptable driving record when driving is a job requirement.

Equipment Used, Physical Demands, And Work EnvironmentPhysical Demands & Work Environment: The physical demands and work environment characteristics are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. - Physical: Viewing of computer monitor. Keyboarding: use of fingers to make small movements such as typing and mouse usage. Sitting or standing for long periods of time. Some locations may require lifting of materials and equipment up to 20 lbs. At some plant locations may be required to perform duties such as changing printer ribbons or monitoring scale operations in inclement weather. Some locations may require the climbing of stairs.
- Work Environment: Typical office environment with adequate temperatures and lighting, low levels of noise. Plant locations may contain dust, fumes, debris, medium to loud levels of noise and extreme weather conditions including excessive heat or cold and rain prevalent at times.
Position Description Cont.BASE SALARY RANGE:$20.00 - $24.00The range displayed reflects the range the company reasonable expects to pay for the position.
