Summary of Position
In-depth knowledge of the various financial aid programs in order to answer applicants questions. Enter financial aid documents required for specigic program awards as administered by the Associate Dean of Financial Aid. Be familiar with the operation of the computer programs to include input and proper review of student enrollment data as it pertains to financial aid. Oversee maintenance of financial aid folders , ensuring required documentation and correspondence is maintained accurately. Monitor and record all activities affecting the status of the students financial aid. ., initiate the notification of the review committee, the student and complete the processing of final outcome. Maintain suspense calendar for all reports and requirements for the Offices of Student Aid. Maintain inventory of all required supplies and forms necessary for operation of the Financial Aid/Veteran Services Offices. Perform all other duties as assigned with little or no supervision.
Minimum Required Education
High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum Required Experience
High school diploma/ GED with six years wage earning clerical experience or certification / successful completion of 30 credit hours towards degree and two years wage earning clerical experience or Associates Degree and one year wage earning clerical experience is required.
A copy of certificates and/or college transcripts is required with application for evaluation purposes.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
+ Excellent general clerical/administrative skills
+ Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
+ Must be proficient with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Access.
+ Ability to quickly learn new software programs such as Colleague Financial Aid Software, PeopleAdmin, Etrieve.
+ Ability to multi-task and function in a high stress administrative environment.
+ Pleasant personality and able to work with people.
+ Highly motivated and able to work with limited supervision.
+ Familiar with document imaging systems, scanning/retrieving documents
+ Set Priorities, meet deadlines and multi-task.
+ Must be able to handle sensitive matters, good telephone voice, and capable of projecting and articulating the policies of the Veterans Educational benefits programs.
+ Will be neat in appearance, should possess a pleasant personality and work well with others.
+ Capable of performing duties and responsibilities without supervision.
