Salary: Salary Commensurate with Experience Location: East Lansing Categories: Office/Clerical Support, Residential and Hospitality Services, Student Services/Student Affairs, Clerical Technical- CT, Full Time (90-100%), Union Position Summary The position will serve as the primary administrative support for Student Life & Engagement (SLE) within the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) department. The position will support the assigned unit(s) within DEIB to compile, check, process and/or analyze information; apprises students/staff/public of processes and information within the department/unit; responsible for travel and accommodations; planning/coordination of meetings/events; and maintaining financial and unit records. Responsible for vendor payments and ensuring contracts are reconciled and obligations met. Manage p-cards and payments with travel and office expenses. Processing payments for dues and transactions within EBS for units within DEIB in accordance with the MSU Business Procedures manual. Plan, coordinate, schedule and assist in logistics for all meetings and events within the unit(s) such as reservations, ordering supplies/food, set up, reminders, and clean up. Assists with calendar management and setting appointments for the unit(s). Handle and maintain all unit(s) records such as roster management, contact information for external partners, and collection of student information for review. Provide administrative support as needed with the unit(s) within DEIB. Interact with University personnel, students, external agencies, and the public to ensure records are correct. Completes project work independently to facilitate the functioning of the department or section. Coordinates the hiring for student employees, manages payroll for students. Orders office supplies and distributes mail to all constituents and other assigned duties as directed. All positions in SLE are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency conditions, you will be expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If you have an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of your normally scheduled work hours remotely, you may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community. Minimum Requirements Knowledge normally acquired through a high school education; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in word processing, spreadsheet, database and/or desktop publishing software; presentation and webpage software; typing and filing; maintaining accounting ledgers; may require knowledge of technical or medical terminology and/or technical knowledge or training related to the field of employment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Desired Qualifications Knowledge normally acquired through a 2 years of college education; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in business administration, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), word processing, spreadsheet, database and/or desktop publishing software; presentation and webpage software; typing and filing; maintaining accounting ledgers; may require knowledge of technical or medical terminology and/or technical knowledge or training related to the field of employment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
