We are seeking candidates for our Program Assistant position in the Women's, Infant & Children's (WIC) program. SUMMARY: Provides services to WIC participants by determining eligibility of applicants by verifying identity, address, income, and voter information. Check clients in for their appointments in addition to answering phone calls and schedules client appointments. Make referrals to other health and social services. This position will primarily serve York City and may be assigned to our other surrounding York County clinics as needed. Benefits Include:

Requirements ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Be committed to the vision and mission of Community Progress Council.
- Greet clients and assign appointments to the appropriate team members.
- Determine eligibility of applicants as outlined in state/federal regulations.
- Provide basic information on nutrition and health services.
- Participate in meetings and continuing education programs as appropriate to assigned job duties.
- Assure local agency compliance with requirements for documenting nutrition education services provided in participant files.
- Promote and support breastfeeding among WIC participants.
- Perform anthropometric and hematological measurements after receiving the required training.
- Comply with Motor Voter Act per state policies.
- Travel to satellite clinics and perform Program Assistant responsibilities.
- Pack/unpack supplies for travel to and from satellite clinics.
- Answer phones and schedules participant appointments.
- All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma/GED required. Candidates for this position with previous experience in a clinical setting or have completed and passed an approved college course in nutrition will be given preference. Having previous work experience with a WIC program is desirable. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily as well as be committed to the mission, vision and core values of the agency. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred. Travel to any of our satellite clinics as needed. Reliable transportation to assigned facilities throughout York County. Regular and timely attendance as an essential job requirement. Ability to be reached by telephone in a timely manner. May be required to commence workday at different agency sites without compensation for travel time or mileage to the site and the return. Ability to respond to change in a productive manner and handle other tasks as assigned. Ability to work with diverse individuals. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in all units of measure using whole numbers and common fractions and decimals. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. COMPUTER: Proficient using a personal computer and Microsoft office software, such as Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook. Ability to learn stand-alone WIC related programs. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Department of Human Services FBI Clearance, PA State Criminal History, Childline Child Abuse Certification, and submission to the National Sex Offender Registry (NSOR) required prior to hire. A physical assessment including a tuberculosis skin test and the Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training due within 90-days of hire. Must have a valid driver's license with acceptable driving history. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Sitting for long periods of time. Frequently stoop, kneel, reach with hands/arms, and walk often. Moderately frequent lifting up to ten pounds and occasionally lifting up to twenty-five pounds.
