College/Department Information
The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University, we provide dental education to the next generation of professionals by offering hands-on education through innovative research, patient care, and service. Join other dental providers to improve the oral health of Georgia and beyond. The DCG was founded to provide the people of Georgia with quality dental care by educating students in dentistry. As a patient, you have the option to receive treatment in one of our three different practice models consisting of student clinics, resident care, or in the faculty practice. All dental treatments can be completed by the specialists in our facility. We also serve patients in more than 20 clinics across Georgia.
Job Summary
To provide backup administrative and office support for the Dental College of Georgia's Office of Student Affairs and Alumni. Assist the Administrative Assistant 2 as needed with daily departmental work tasks. Work tasks may include but are not limited to: notify course directors of excused absences from students, answer the phone, travel, book conference rooms, track supplies and submit paperwork as needed to core areas. Quickly respond to students' needs to answer questions and resolve their issues. Students are our priority within this office. Assist with student events to coordinate and set-up the event from start to finish. Track, log & verify student community service hours. Send out student event communications to the college. Maintain electronic student files.
Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
ADMINISTRATIVE/OFFICE SUPPORT: Provide administrative and office support for the DCG Student Affairs and Alumni office. Stay informed of the formal and informal college/departmental goals, standards, policies and procedures which includes some familiarity with other DCG departments. This includes, but is not limited to answering the phone, helping with the outside organizations that interact with the students, such as the Georgia Dental Association, American Student Dental Association and several other private and fraternal dental organizations.
EXCUSED ABSENCES: Responsible for processing and reporting excused absences for students. These excused absences are communicated to course directors and others as required by DCG Attendance Policies.
INFORMING STUDENTS: Communicate information to students, faculty, staff and students as needed. Assist students as needed with any concerns/issues/problems as top priority.
EVENT PLANNING: Assist the Administrative Assistant 2 with all event planning. This includes, but is not limited to making room reservations, facility forms, campus services as needed, assisting with Acquiring proper location, vendors and supplies, campus services, etc. The events include, Hooding, the White Coat Ceremony, Family Day, Fall Kickoff, Senior Picnic, and the Senior Awards Ceremony.
DAILY TASKS: Assist the administrative assistant 2 as needed with daily departmental work tasks to include but not limited to: answer phones, travel paperwork, book conference rooms, track supplies, submit paperwork to core areas and assigning student lockers and verify they are cleaned out when locker moves have finished.
OTHER DUTIES: Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization.
OR
A minimum of one year of office support experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and knowledge of and experience in Banner and PeopleSoft.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
Working knowledge of schools policies and procedures.
SKILLS
Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; ability to learn additional software programs as needed.
Excellent customer service skills, telephone etiquette and organizational and communication skills.
ABILITIES
Ability to effectively interact with a variety of people, including students and faculty. deans, and staff across campus, as well as external callers and visitors to the office.
Must be able to meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality.
Ability to mult-task and work independently.

Pay Band: B2
Salary: Minimum $15.77/hour
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
