The Emergency Department is a 50 bed unit and treats an average of 160 patients per day. The ED is equipped to treat all types of emergencies from acute cardiac conditions to women in active labor. Crouse is a Comprehensive Stroke Center and a Chest Pain Center of Excellence. An average of 25% of the patients who come through the ED are admitted to the hospital.A Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for the planning, implementing and evaluation of care for a given patient population with the established standards and practices of Crouse Hospital. This process is enacted through direct clinical practice, management of patient care and general professional duties.
Education/Experience RequirementsRequired: - Graduate of an accredited associate degree
*A Graduate Nurse (GN) must complete NCLEX within 120 days of employment.
Preferred: - Bachelor of Science in Nursing from accredited nursing program or higher degree
*Bachelor's degree required within 8 years of being hired or those licensed after 2017.
Licensure/Certification RequirementsRequired: - Current New York State licensure as a Registered Nurse
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
Critical Care Nursing Requirements- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 1 year
Preferred:- Certification in a specialty area.
