This position is part of the Northwest Region Public Health Division within the NMDOH. Why does the job exist? This office clerk advanced promotes public health and participates in the role of building healthier communities in New Mexico. This clerk position exits to assure safe and effective provision of care at the SE Heights Public Health Office in Albuquerque, in collaboration with the nurse supervisor, immunization clerk and nurse, department leadership (Regional Health Officer, Refugee Health Program Manager, Director of Nursing. How does it get done? Provide clerical support Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm. Support and maintain a well-organized, consistent and efficient office. Maintain financial and other clinical records in an electronic health and billing system. Promotes public health by serving customers in a professional manner. Who are the customers? The customers are New Mexicans, with an emphasis on undeserved residents and the Albuquerque refugee population Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate has: Excellent customer service skills Experience working with culturally diverse populations Experience communicating with clients through a translation line Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks: answer phones, schedule appointments, greet clients, assist office staff Experience working with an electronic health record Minimum Qualification High School diploma or equivalent and three (3) months experience in office administration andor customer service. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field andor direct experience in this occupation totaling three (3) months may substitute for the required experience. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment. Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to visual/video display terminals and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
