BENEFITS: Eligible for full benefits (see attachment) SCHEDULE: 186 Days, Full-Time; 7.5 hrs. / day This position will remain posted until filled. All qualified and interested applicants are encouraged to apply. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Facilitates patrons in locating and using library materials
  • Supports the library program's instructional objectives
  • Assists with circulation and processing
  • Supervises student patrons
  • Organizes and maintains the library collection and facility
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Works under the direction and supervision of the library media specialist
  • Maintains confidentiality of any information regarding staff and students
  • Assists in the opening and closing of the library every day
  • Assists teachers and students in locating library materials (physical and digital)
  • Maintains the shared student printer and troubleshoots printing issues
  • Assists in circulation desk operations
    • Checks student passes and maintains attendance
    • Checks library materials in and out
    • Runs overdue reports and notices; Sends email reminders
  • Handles general library office work
    • Maintains and updates patron records
    • Maintains files and records including correspondence, catalogs, equipment upkeep and repair
    • Maintains adequate supplies on hand
  • Maintains special collections and digital records
  • Uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and copiers
  • Assists in the use and maintenance of instructional and non-instructional equipment
  • Inputs and updates materials in the library software system
  • Generates materials for display and/or distribution
  • Assists in processing books and library materials from the preparation of orders to the placement on the shelves
  • Unpacks new orders, verifies receipt of items, and checks orders for accuracy
  • Shelves books and media in Dewey Decimal order and/or customized order for special collections
  • Reads library shelves and arranges holdings in order
  • Assists in inventory of books, media, and equipment
  • Repairs books and library materials
  • Handles assigned housekeeping duties
  • Performs other projects and duties as assigned
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
  • Education, Training, and Experience Required:
    • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
    • Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
    • Displays excellent communication skills and professional demeanor
    • Experience working in a school environment preferred
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:
    • Nurtures a positive relationship with and demonstrate respect for staff, parents, administrators, and community members
    • Possesses a collaborative work ethic
    • Demonstrates effective writing and communication skills
    • Demonstrates the ability to deal with confidential information in a tactful and professional manner
    • Familiarity with library programs
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Position works indoors in a typical school library setting
  • May work near others, often within a few feet
  • May occasionally be exposed to noise levels that are distracting
