What you will do: As an Office Collections Officer, you will work in a call center environment (inbound and outbound) collecting debts and enforcing tax laws for the SCDOR. Primary job duties include:
- Using SCDOR systems to locate and update information.
- Generating and answering telephone calls and correspondence for the tax areas of Individual Income and Governmental Enterprise Accounts Receivable (GEAR).
- Conducting research of Office Collections accounts to balance accounts, determine liabilities, and issue appropriate correspondence.
Minimum and Additional Requirements Either:
A bachelor's degree in a related field OR An associate's degree in a business related field and one year of relevant work experience ORRelevant experience or education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis with an approved equivalence by the Division of State Human Resources (DSHR) Academic degrees must be from an accredited institution of higher learning Examples of common business or related degrees include accounting, advertising, criminal justice, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, health care management hospitality management, human resources, information technology management, marketing, organizational leadership, public relations, taxation, etc Preferred Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in a related field
- Customer service, collections, or tax experience
- Ability to use customer service skills in line with SCDOR standards in assisting taxpayers and fellow employees in all forms of communication providing professional courteous service
- Ability to control emotions and maintain professionalism
