Job Description:

Provide administrative support for the Assistant Dean of the School of Business and Chair of the Department of Art & Design, their faculty, and their students.

What will I do in this position?

Essential job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

School of Business:

* Provide administrative support for the Assistant Dean of the School of Business, faculty, and students within that school, including, but not limited to, preparing compliance reports and assessments and providing first-line contact for the school.

* Coordinate planning/logistics of school meetings and key events. Track faculty teaching schedules and critical reporting dates.

* Monitor and update the school website, Moodle site, catalogue, and promotional materials. Manage the database of school alumni, prospective employers of interns, and graduating seniors. Assist in the implementation of communication plans developed by the departments and designed toward alumni, faculty, students, and recruits.

* Follow-up with individual school faculty members for their timely completion and submission of tasks assigned to them by department leadership or other oversite offices.

* Record and maintain accurate minutes of the department meetings. Prepare reports, proposals, and correspondence as directed by department leadership. Maintain accurate files of school correspondence.

* Execute and comply with bookkeeping processes and assist department leadership in maintaining accurate school financial records.

* Maintain a current listing of faculty. Assist in planning and coordinating the schedule of course offerings. Facilitate communication about schedule and contract matters, acting as a liaison to appropriate offices.

* Assist in interviewing, hiring, training, coordinating, and evaluating student employees, tutors, or assistants to school faculty. Represent department leadership as supervisor of student employees for approval of time sheets. Maintain and monitor records of student employee hours.

* Provide logistic and procurement support for the department. Assist the department leader in determining the equipment needs of the department. Serve as the contact person for the department faculty for all basic technology and use..

Department of Art & Design

* Assist in the administration of and communication for the Department of Art & Design by providing support to the department chair, faculty, and students. Help with department spaces, ordering supplies, record keeping, and scheduling. Facilitate external vendors and contracts. Responsibility for student employees. Support department meetings. Assist in the administration of the Denler Gallery, including budget, exhibitions, student staffing, and marketing. Assist the gallery coordinator with the university's art collection and its care, cataloging, and on-campus distribution.

Secondary job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Provide temporary coverage for other administrative office roles as needed.

* Assist with miscellaneous duties as requested.

What will it take to succeed in this position?

Minimum Education and Experience:

* High school diploma or GED equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred

* Previous office experience a minimum of two years preferred

* Continually nurture a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; serve as a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintain a kind, Christ-like attitude in dealing with and ministering to people within and outside of Northwestern; and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern's mission, doctrinal statement, and Declaration of Christian Community.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Basic to intermediate computer skills

* Ability to learn and effectively use institutional systems and software

* Ability to maintain confidential information

* Ability to interact with a variety of individuals in a professional, kind, and tactful manner

* Detail oriented with strong organizational skills

* Ability to work independently without close supervision

* Excellent proofreading skills

* Proven excellence in written and verbal communication skills

* Ability to pass a background check upon hire and periodically throughout the course of employment
