The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) is a bi-county agency serving a diverse population of approximately 2 million residents within Montgomery and Prince George's County in Maryland. We are a six-time National Recreation and Parks Association Gold Medal Award Winner. We work hard, but we have fun too!

Salary range for this Term-contract opportunity: $56,000 - $71,000. Salary is decided based on education and experience.

M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George's County is seeking a highly motivated and outgoing Office Manager. The person selected will be responsible for performing functional human resources processing and general office clerical work in support of the Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George's County HR unit. This is a busy office and requires an individual with excellent organizational skills, able to follow through, and with great attention to detail. The selected candidate should also be able to lift up to 25 lbs. Interpersonal skills to interact with business contacts in a businesslike, customer service-oriented manner; this includes skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. This position reports directly to the HR Operations Specialist for the Department of Parks and Recreation. This is a mid-level, term-contract position.

The Office Managermanages the daily operations of the office including sensitive and confidential matters, such as employee relations documentation and talent acquisition data. Any viable candidate must possess the highest level of ethics, integrity, and discretion in dealing with confidential information, data, and files.

Ability to exercise individual judgment and to determine issues that need the attention of the HR Managers or senior Recruiters and HRBP's is a daily requirement.

Ability to deal with several projects and tasks simultaneously, deliver effective results, meet tight deadlines, manage stress/pressure, and exercise diplomacy in delicate situations are musts.

Examples of Important Duties

Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

* Analyzes HR data (e.g., applicant flow, personnel actions, turnover, etc.) using AirTable to gather raw data. Prepares reports, creates visual presentations, and dashboards using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Presents data insights to HR management and other stakeholders to support decision-making and improve recruitment and HR operations.

* Assists in creating and preparing periodic reports and metrics (e.g., applicant flow, personnel actions, turnover) using Microsoft Excel or other application tools. Ensures all assigned reporting/metrics projects are completed in a timely manner with accuracy and attention to detail.

* Familiar with HRIS systems such as Lawson, NeoGov, etc.

* Responds to inquiries from applicants, employees, and the general public regarding Departments job openings, salaries, benefits, Merit System Rules and Regulations, and other Human Resources policies and procedures via telephone, e-mail and in-person.

* Receives, logs, codes, processes, and issues data/correspondence (e.g., hiring packets, offer/acceptance letters, daily/monthly job listings, etc.). Maintains a variety of confidential HR records. Sorts and files documents and searches files to answer questions or assemble data. Processes invoices for the Office in a timely manner and forwards internally for payment.

* Responsible for scheduling fingerprints and physical as instructed; and uploading driving records to risk management.

* Writes letters and routine correspondence to answer questions, request information, or provide notification about Human Resources matters such as employment offers and new hire orientation schedules.

* Responsible for accuracy and completeness of documents generated. Makes corrections, codes data, and verifies information input. Reconciles any discrepancies. Sends forms/data to other Commission units or to third parties for further processing on behalf of the Department.

* Assists in creating and preparing periodic reports and metrics (e.g., applicant flow, personnel actions, turnover, etc.) using Microsoft Excel or application report tools. Ensures all assigned reporting/metrics projects are completed in a timely manner.

* Provides back-up in tracking completion of required background investigations for new hires and rehires, creates employment suitability letters and communicates results to field HR representatives.

* Related areas of expertise include Personnel Management/Administration, Employee/Labor Relations, Business Management/Administration, or Public Administration.

* Sends out communication on application status to applicants.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. This schedule reflects the core hours of the DPR-HR office and are non-negotiable. Flexible work options are available. This Office is currently offering one remote workdayafterworking for six months upon evaluation, which is subject to change based on the Department's needs.

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Finance, Business or any related field.

* One (1) year of experience in human resource management, finance or any other related area of business administration.

* An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together total five (5) years.
