LAFAYETTE SCHOOL CORPORATION JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Classified Specialist PRIMARY SUPERVISOR: Director of Human Resources GRADE/PAY RANGE: Level I Corporate $19.83-20.33 per hour HOURS: 7:30-4:30 Monday-Friday & some overtime required BENEFITS: Full Benefits POSITIONS SUPERVISED: N/A FLSA: Non-Exempt DAYS/MONTHS WORK: 12 Months LOCATION: Hiatt Administrative Center PRIMARY FUNCTION: Assist the HR Director in regards to Classified Employee Administration MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Include but are not limited to the following: 1. Maintain and update all files and records of current and previously employed classified personnel. 2. Complete all local, state and federal reports involving personnel records of classified personnel. 3. Generate routine recommendations and reports related to classified personnel. 4. Process communications related to classified personnel. 5. Advertise classified position openings. 6. Problem solve contractual and handbook related issues with classified employees. 7. Problem solve time and attendance issues with classified employees and administration. 8. Conduct all onboarding activities with potential and recently hired classified employees. 9. Schedule appointments and meetings. 10. Accurate electronic data input. 11. Manage personnel records in accordance with federal and state law, provisions of the collective bargaining agreement, handbooks, board policies and board procedures. 12. Act as primary district liaison with substitute teacher employer and food service employer. 13. Provide annual training to district administrative assistants in human resource matters. POSITION SPECIFICATIONS: A. Education High school diploma required. 1-4 years of higher education preferred. Associates or Bachelors degree highly preferred. B. Skills and abilities Relationship building skills required Proficient in Word, Excel and web-based databases Capable of operating within school board policy, employee handbooks, employee collective bargaining agreements, state and federal employee relations laws Problem solving and independent task management Positive and flexible attitude Ability to retain confidentiality Attention to detail Efficient C.
