Maine Department of Transportation Salary: $20.50 - $29.53 (per hour) (Salary Schedule) Office/Bureau: Finance & Administration Location: Augusta, ME Position Number: 02500-0313 Opening Date: October 25, 2024 Closing Date: November 8, 2024Job Description: This position provides administrative support to the Director and Assistant Director of Finance and Administration. The position requires an advanced administrative skill set that includes knowledge of state government operations, computer systems and processes. The work performed is routinely confidential in nature and consists of advanced secretarial work; the ability to apply pertinent rules to work processes; ability to analyze, interpret and present various data from multiple sources, compile data into spreadsheets, reports and correspondence; review and edit work of others for completeness and accuracy; perform research on behalf of department members-make subsequent purchases and arrangements; independently plan and adjust work flow accordingly to ensure that deadlines are met; apply knowledge of procurement methods and travel policies to allow MaineDOT staff to attend necessary business meetings; retain records and required documentation in accordance with policy; represent the Department at various meetings; act as liaison for the Department at business meetings with other state agencies; sit on committees for multi-agency work groups on behalf of DOT. To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience: Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a proficient knowledge of modern office practices to perform advanced administrative support tasks requiring specialized skills, and 2) the ability to use independent judgment, initiative, and discretion to make determinations on varied matters. All positions in this classification assume the qualifications of: Office Assistant I, Office Assistant II, Office Associate I and Office Associate II.
