Overview

Reporting to the Director, Community Events & Partnerships and taking direction and guidance from various event leads based on role and responsibilities, as a frontline fundraiser, the Officer is responsible for revenue generation through management of a portfolio of donors, cultivating and soliciting new donors, and overall increasing giving to Dana-Farber. The Officer, Community Events & Partnerships (CEP) will play a collaborative role in the team raising $6 million+ annually through various Jimmy Fund signature events and programs. Additionally, this role will have a major focus on the logistical execution of the signature event, Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl, and will oversee management of the Jimmy Fund Little League program.

The Officer will manage a rapid flow of work with a need to toggle between long-term strategic priorities and time sensitive details. An ideal candidate will have an experience with frontline fundraising, event logistics, and passion for Dana-Farber's mission.

The onboarding of this role will include a comprehensive training process which includes completion of online modules, shadowing colleagues, as well as hands-on learning experiences throughout the first calendar year in the role.

This position is considered remote, 0-1 days onsite at 10 Brookline Place, Brookline, MA each week. DFCI guidelines state that employees must reside in New England: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, or Vermont.

Responsibilities

* Develop and implement comprehensive event management plans for assigned event(s) and program(s) with a focus on increasing donors, recruiting new donors, and increasing giving to Dana-Farber, including but not limited to oversight of the Jimmy Fund Little League and Radio-Telethon's sustainer program

* Lead the logistical execution for the Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl, working alongside the Associate Director, CEP with vendors and sponsors

* Support the Sr. Associate Director, CEP on Co-Chair hosted event operations and planning

* Manage a portfolio of donors, prospects, and partners; including cultivating and soliciting new donors

* Collaborate with members of Annual Giving, Major Gifts, and Planned Giving, to identify and present opportunities to engage participants and donors even further with the Division of Philanthropy;

* Work with colleagues across the Jimmy Fund to identify best practices and areas for innovation and growth;

* Assume responsibility for special projects and other duties as necessary.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position may have direct supervision of interns and volunteers, but will seek major decision-making authority from direct supervisor.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalency required. Associates/Bachelors degree preferred. 2+ years relevant work experience required in event coordination and donor solicitation or sales.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Detail oriented with excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills; strong interpersonal skills; strong organizational and time management skills with ability to multitask; possess the ability to work well with all DFCI Departments and donor constituencies of all levels; manage multiple projects simultaneously; and work independently in a fast-paced environment. Aptitude and willingness to conduct one-on-one donor visits and solicitations. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required.

This position will evaluate current programs and create and execute approved plans to expand and diversify the donors and participants for the events assigned to broaden our donor base and create even more inclusive events. Experience with diverse donors is a plus.

PATIENT CONTACT:

Interaction with patients as event participants and/or presenters at events.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Remote work flexibility (0-1 days onsite each week). Some travel, attending events as well as off-site meetings with participants and partners on a regular basis. Speak on behalf of Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund at events as needed. Requires light lifting for event set-up. Weekend and night work is required occasionally. Attendance at signature events required.
