This job is primarily responsible for the maintenance of the crane engine, generators, air compressors, gear box, cables, temperature and pressure gauges, and cables. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, communicating with the crane operator and others regarding the mechanical functioning of the crane. Additionally, this job will perform routine maintenance to include oiling and greasing cables and other moving parts and will perform a wide variety of duties that are based on the daily needs of the operation.

In this job, you will:

Actual responsibilities will vary depending on daily needs of facility.

* Fully participate in the company Safety Program and attend daily pre-shift meetings.

* Perform all duties within compliance of OSHA, company safety, and environmental regulations; including wearing appropriate PPE for task being performed.

* Regularly communicates with crane operator and mechanic providing information regarding the mechanical functioning of the crane.

* Assist mechanic with overhauling and adjusting machinery.

* Perform inspection of crane's operating parts frequently, throughout the day and at the beginning of each shift, for any safety issues and determine if any parts/equipment are malfunctioning or broken including cables, brakes, read pressure and temperature gauges.

* Operate crane to relieve crane operator as needed.

* Perform routine maintenance to oil and grease cables and other moving parts such as gears, shafts, bearings of engines and auxiliary equipment.

* Repair or replace grease lines as needed.

* Perform deckhand responsibilities of properly securing barges, reading drafts, opening, closing, removing and placement of lids and cleaning.

* Ensure the correct product is directed to the correct storage area, where applicable.

* Perform the loading of railcars and trucks to specifications, where applicable.

* Complete documentation timely, accurately and legibly.

* Operate a variety of heavy equipment and perform PM, where applicable.

* Dependent on facility and location, may be responsible for any variety of the following; leveling buildings, stocking, cutting grass, cutting chocks and general clean-up including sweeping, shoveling, washing, painting and other general housekeeping responsibilities.

* Other duties as assigned.

Education

Required - High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

Required - None.

Preferred - 1 years' experience working in an industrial environment with a dependable work record.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Working knowledge of computers and applicable software.

* Basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).

* Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization.

* Ability to complete documentation requirements.

* Able to follow direction and to use logical thought process to interpret oral and written instructions and troubleshoot problems.

* Ability to work well both independently and within a team environment.

* Ability to use tools appropriate for assigned task.

* Ability to remain focused on exceptional customer service, both internally and externally.

* Strong ability to multi-task with exceptional attention to detail.

Physical Demands & Requirements

Ability to lift/push/pull 10 lbs. - 70lbs frequently, 80 lbs. - 100lbs. occasionally.

Ability to sit continuously on an air-cushioned seat.

Ability to stand and walk constantly/continuously on various surfaces.

Ability to lift from ground level to overhead or at waist level, depending on activity.

Ability to pull parts with chain hoist with a resistance of 15 - 20 lbs, occasionally.

Reaches forward constantly/continuously and handle levers, hand tools and other equipment as necessary.

Ability to climb stairs, climb ladders, balance, stoop, bend and kneel, occasionally.

Ability to perform work in confined spaces and significant heights.

Ability to understand and communicate verbally and/or by signaling, in person and over two-way radio.

Ability to work outside in extreme weather conditions.

Ability to meet requirements of PFT and fit testing, when applicable.

Ability to meet requirement of and utilize all applicable PPE (e.g. hard hat, steel-toed boots, life vest), when applicable.

Ability to work extended hours, weekend, holidays and/or alternate shifts as needed.

Uses near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, accommodation (adjusting focus between varied distances quickly), color discrimination and field of vision for task(s) being performed.

Environmental Conditions

The work environment described here are meant to be representative of those an employee would normally encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.

The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment.

Travel, 5%-20% travel may be required at some facilities. This may include off-site training and/or work at alternate locations.
