We have a subscription-based business model offering published research and data, and a retained advice model that provides access to our team, and short high-impact consulting (technology strategy, system selection, voice of customer, thought leadership, etc.).THE ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIESWe are looking for a senior analyst to contribute towards and help shape our research agenda for Capital Markets within Celent, within the areas of either securities operations/post trade technology or front office trading technology across the buy and sell side. You will be working within a team of like-minded analysts charged with creating data-driven content for and providing advice to senior technology and technology product executives across Capital Markets and the global ecosystem of market participants.If you have relevant Capital Markets expertise and enjoy learning and developing fresh ideas linked to areas of new technology demand and are passionate about fintech, this role could be for you. You will be tasked with creating fresh primary research on technology-led innovation, identifying impact of emerging technologies and fintech solutions, delivering engaging presentations, data collection and analysis, speaking at client events and webinars, conducting survey & briefings and delivery of short high-impact strategy consulting, working with clients on specific opportunities within their business. It's a varied role placing you at the heart of business and technology in capital markets.Primary responsibilities include:
  • Identify relevant research trends and themes across the operations/post trade or front office trading technology landscape.
  • Conduct your own leading-edge research into emerging technology use / fintech, ensuring frequent and impactful content production and client service delivery; developing your skills as needed.
  • Influence and contribute actively towards our client technology research agenda for Capital Markets (wholesale financial markets and global ecosystem) engaging with clients and the team to gather requirements for fresh and innovative content that is in-demand and thought provoking.
  • Work closely with business development and client service teams to identify further opportunities for business growth and to achieve higher levels of existing client satisfaction.
  • Become a brand ambassador for Celent, developing and promoting a leading market profile as a Capital Markets strategy influencer.
  • Identify opportunities for and deliver bespoke research-based consulting such as voice of customer surveys and interviews, system selection, technology strategy, go-to-market and product research and M&A strategy support.
YOUR ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCEWe are looking for someone passionate about helping clients understand the business value of emerging technologies / fintech across the Capital Markets sector, with a keen interest in how market structure, regulations and technology-led innovations will evolve over the next few years. You will need to maintain an optimistic but grounded and pragmatic perspective on what's possible. Experience in the following roles related to post trade/operations are helpful: strategy, architecture, business analysis, change/project management, department head, research analyst.The candidate should possess and be comfortable with building trusted relationships with senior technology executives (including product, strategy, innovation or business-aligned technology) from Financial Institutions on the buy and sell side or Financial Market Infrastructures, at a variety of levels from an IT strategy and architect practitioner level through to C-level. This is a business technology research & strategy role as opposed to business, market or investment strategy/research, or management consulting role. Academic background:
  • Preferably focused on data or STEM, or equivalent professional experience
Professional experience:
  • 10+ years' experience in a top firm within the capital markets sector (investment banks, trading platform / market infrastructure or data provider) with responsibility for technology strategy, architecture or change delivery; or
  • 10+ years' experience in a management consulting firm, or research & advisory firm working within the sector
Skill and expertise:
  • Intellectual curiosity and the drive to learn about and master new areas of technology-led innovation
  • Commercial experience, with a collaborative approach to problem solving, and the ability to work in a global, culturally diverse environment
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • Growing public profile and reputation, with strong public speaking and facilitation skills
  • Strong understanding of research methods, qualitative and quantitative
  • Intellectual curiosity and the drive to learn about and master new areas
  • A working knowledge of the role technology plays in shaping capital markets
  • A keen interest in understanding emerging technologies and their relationship to fintech innovations
  • Ability to work independently and successfully manage short- and long-term deliverables.
Location:
  • The role is intended to be primarily itinerant or working from home. Each Celent team member is attached to an office. Your base office location will be selected from New York, Boston, or Chicago, USA or London, UK and you will be required to travel to occasionally to meet with colleagues and clients.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education.
