Since every duty associated with this position may not be described herein, employees may be required to perform duties not specifically spelled out in the job description, but which may be reasonably considered to be incidental in the performing of their duties just as though they were actually written out in this job description.Job Title: On Call Personal Care Worker/HomemakerDepartment: Social ServicesPay Grade: 301FLSA Status: Non-exemptJOB SUMMARYThe primary function of this position is to assist the elderly and/or disabled clients with household duties, homemaking, and/or personal care such as bathing, dressing, feeding, etc. Reports to the In-Home Services Coordinator.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Performs shopping duties for clients and picks up grocery items, medications, runs errands, etc.
  • Performs housekeeping duties (cleaning, changing sheets, laundry) and minor home repairs.
  • Prepares meals as needed.
  • Provides personal hygiene care for the client such as bathing, toileting, mouth and teeth care, etc.
  • Pays any necessary bills for client.
  • Keeps records and completes paperwork in the performance of daily duties.
  • Travels in performance of daily duties.
  • Provides emotional companionship to the client.
  • Submits all paperwork to supervisor in a timely fashion in accordance with established procedures.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.
  • In the event of special, emergency, or disaster situations, employee may be required to work schedules other than those for which they are regularly scheduled in any capacity deemed appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience:High School diploma or GED. 1 year minimum of prior related work experience.Special Qualifications:Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Home Health Aide Certificate.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to have guidelines for work but determine the approach for doing the work.
  • Ability to perform technical or trades-based work that requires a solid understanding of basic algebra and statistics OR use of heavy equipment. Some of the tasks performed include participating in data collection and detailed analysis; reporting on the accomplishment of specific departmental goals and tasks; OR operating or repairing heavy equipment (bulldozers, cranes, graders).
  • Ability to work in a responsive environment where co-workers or citizens bring problems for resolution.
  • Ability to determine problems and create individual solutions for issues.
  • Ability to work primarily alone.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe work is medium and requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:
  • Feeling: Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
  • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • Handling: Picking, holding, or otherwise working, primarily with the whole hand.
  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discrimination in sound.
  • Mental Acuity: Ability to make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes.
  • Repetitive Motion: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Speaking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word including the ability to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately and concisely.
  • Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word including those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Visual Acuity: Have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and/or extensive reading.
