Position Introduction
The On-Call Safety Officer is responsible for providing a safe environment for the College community and protection of College and personal property.
Job Description
The On-Call Safety Officer will conduct preliminary investigation of incidents and accidents and files appropriate reports in accordance with established policies and procedures, and conducts patrols of the campus, locking, and securing buildings according to established policy, and responsible for guarding against unauthorized entry to campus grounds and buildings. This position will respond to medical emergencies, provides emergency first aid assistance, and transportation to medical facilities in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
* High school diploma or GED required.
* Must pass Criminal History Background check.
* Law Enforcement /Public Safety/Security experience preferred.
* Must be able to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing, on the telephone, and in person.
* Must be physically capable of walking, driving, and responding to emergencies in a timely manner.
* Must be able to work independently and possess sound reasoning capabilities.
* Must be physically capable of providing emergency first aid assistance.
* Must be able to successfully qualify in all Department training certification
* Must be able to interact with the campus community and public in a professional manner.
* Must be able to follow Chain of Command
* Must be able to Enforce Federal, State, Local Laws as well as College Campus Rules and regulations when dealing with College Campus Community and the Public.
* Must have integrity and be able to represent the Saint Mary's College Department of Campus/Public Safety and the College in an honorable professional and impartial manner.
