POSITION SUMMARYThe OTJ training Manager is responsible for implementing Web's multi-year Manufacturing Skills On-The-Job-Training Project Plan.Key responsibilities include coordinating stakeholder input to the plan; developing standards, models, and templates for OTJ training materials; assisting operations with developing training content; developing and conducting Train-the-Trainer sessions; delivering high-priority training; supervising site-level Training Coordinators (where applicable) and recommending/implementing improved training record-keeping / training management system(s).The position has global scope (focus: 75% Aero, 25% I&C) and reports to the VP of Corporate Development and Director of Operations, Aerospace.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist with developing the OJT Project plan and gathering and aligning cross functional input from around Web.
- Collaborate with process engineers and process techs to ensure technical specifications, SOPS, PCDs, etc. can be translated into standard format operator training materials.
- Benchmark best practices for OJT training (Hypertherm, Westminster Tool, others ...)
- Develop templates, models, and standards for operator training materials. Balance quality, cost, effectiveness, timeliness. Incorporate contemporary best practices for simple and effective training delivery.
- Develop training content and assist sites with their own content development.
- Establish a master list of content required and a process for stakeholders to prioritize content development (consider IT governance process). The focus is on manufacturing skills. Where it is an easy lift and does not distract from the focus, extend scope to other training needs within Web.
- Develop and implement measures for training effectiveness
- Supervise site training coordinators (where applicable).
- Provide regular communication of program implementation, wins, next steps.
- Coordinate periodic reviews, Hoopla, PDCA to drive continuous improvement in the program.
Additional REQUIRED Qualifications/Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in organizational development, process engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of five years of experience in manufacturing.
- minimum of five years of experience in training.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop multi-media training content.
- Strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills. Ability to understand and relate to manufacturing processes and team members.
- Team player, willing to get involved in all aspects of the project.
- Travel requirements: global; 5-10 days per month; 25% total estimated.
