**POSITION DETAILS**

New York City College of Technology (City Tech) of the City University of New York (CUNY) is a comprehensive college in downtown Brooklyn offering associate and baccalaureate degrees in technology and health related degree programs, other career-oriented degrees and liberal arts transfer degrees in its Schools of Arts and Sciences, Technology and Design, and Professional Studies. The Scheduling Testing Advisement Registration (STAR) Center at City Tech welcomes applications for the position of Onboarding Advisor to join our team. The STAR Center is a comprehensive advisement office that welcomes and offers enrollment support to new entering students and incoming transfer students. The STAR Center at City Tech provides academic information and centralized advising services to all undergraduate students, clarifying degree requirements and assisting with academic program planning. Making information available to students to provide a clear understanding of the academic requirements that impact their selection of programs and courses, leading to timely receipt of an associate and/or baccalaureate degree, is one of the STAR Center's primary roles.

The Onboarding Advisor is responsible for coordinating onboarding activities for new students who have confirmed their offer of admissions throughout their first semester, serving as a key liaison between the STAR Center and the Admissions Office, Transfer Services Center and the Office of Student Life and Development. An essential member of the STAR Center team, the Onboarding Advisor will anticipate and define student problems, troubleshoot issues, develop and maintain a broad knowledge base of college programs and student services.

Reporting to the STAR Center Manager, the Onboarding Advisor will be responsible for:

+ Providing direct support to students navigating career and major decision-making and program course selection and scheduling

+ Serving as an initial point of contact and academic advising resource for incoming students

+ Responding to inquiries utilizing multiple means of communication (i.e., text, email virtual meetings and Navigate)

+ Using Campus Management (customer relationship management tool) to review and schedule advisement appointments

+ Providing case management support for the Undeclared & Undeclared Health cohort

+ Communicating the outcomes from student assessments and assist with the development of educational plans

+ Updating social media and website with relevant advising-related topics

+ Serving as liaison between faculty and professional advisors to create a more robust advising partnership

+ Participating in the New Student Orientation and Open House

+ Assisting with large and small group advisement presentations

+ Assisting students in the academic advising and registration components of all summer orientation sessions for first year, transfer, and unique student populations (SEEK, CUNY EDGE, and ASAP)

+ Performing related duties as assigned

The flexibility to work evenings and weekends as assigned is expected.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

Bachelor's Degree required.

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Prior customer service experience, preferably directly serving students in a higher education setting.

+ Strong knowledge of CUNY or other higher education enrollment services, including academic support resources, online systems, and registration procedures.

+ Strong presentation, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and ability to work and interact effectively, collaboratively, and cooperatively with a diverse community of learners, students, faculty, and staff.

+ Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple assignments, establish priorities, and meet deadlines.

+ Demonstrated capacity to understand the advising processes upon completion of training.

Provides academic counseling and planning services to a diverse student population.

- Assists students with clarifying values and goals; counsels students regarding educational options, requirements, policies and procedures.

- Offers academic and personal support to guide students through the course selection process

- Provides students with effective and timely referral to other college and external support services

- Monitors and evaluates students' educational progress by conducting academic progress audits

- Establishes and maintains student files, databases and records; prepares activity reports and analyses

- May specialize in providing advice on specific programs or to specific student groups

- Performs related duties as assigned.

**COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS**

$47,861-$57,517. Salary commensurate with qualification and experience.
