Join our team!About the Role: United Health Services, the largest and most comprehensive provider of healthcare services in upstate New York's Southern Tier, is hiring a Staff Registered Nurse, Oncology Unit to join our team at UHS Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City, NY. The Oncology unit is a 24 bed unit but will be moving to a 30 private bed and private bath unit once the new construction is completed! Our passionate team administers chemotherapy and immunotherapy to an inpatient and outpatient population while being a part of a support system for the patient and their family.We welcome all experienced nurses with or without experience in Oncology. Our department loves to teach, and you will pick up many new skills working with our team. All Oncology nurses are formally trained to give Chemotherapy during their orientation period and have regular access to on-site mentors and educators. We will make sure you are comfortable with your training. During your orientation period, you will work closely with our clinical coaches and have a weekly touch base with your Nurse Manager. We will make sure you feel part of our close-knit team right away!QualificationsOur Oncology team will soon have a state-of-the-art floor in the new UHS Wilson Main Tower. This six-story, 183,000-square-foot clinical tower on the UHS Wilson Medical Center campus will open its Oncology unit beginning July 2024 with 30 private beds and baths.Our 1-4/1-6 nurse-to-patient ratio gives you the ability to truly support your patients as they go through a difficult time in their lives and create a comforting environment for them. While some days are hard, seeing your patients complete their treatment successfully is one of the most rewarding things you will experience in your career. Our patients rely on us to be their support system, extended family, and for us to advocate for them, especially when they cannot. - Patient assessment and management
- Administer Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy
- Provide symptom management and supportive interventions to minimize treatment effects
- Patient education and counseling
- Complete accurate documentation
Qualifications:
- A valid RN license
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team
- Previous experience in oncology preferred
