One-One Instructional AssistantExceptional Children's ProgramSalary: Classified Salary Schedule based on experienceReports to: Principal & EC Case ManagerFLSA Status: Non-ExemptSupervises: N/aWork Week Schedule: Monday - Friday Work Hours: (Part-time Temporary) 25 hrs/weekMonths per year: As NeededPurpose: The one-on-one bilingual assistant will provide educational support for a student in the classroom. Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with teachers and EC Case manager to modify academic materials prior to and during lessons so that the student can access the curriculum
  • Reinforce special skills that have been introduced and taught by the Visually Impaired teacher, EC teacher, and EL tutor so that they may be practiced throughout the student's school day in the various classroom settings
  • Assist and guide the student in unfamiliar environments
  • Provide communication assistance between the student, parent, therapists, teachers and other staff who are part of the student's educational program
  • Read, write, translate and interpret English and Spanish
  • Participate in meetings, training programs, and conferences as requested by school administration as they pertain to the student.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to prepare instructional materials for access as required on the student's Individual Education Plan.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Qualifications:
    • Meet all district & state requirements for employment that are endorsed for paraprofessionals
    • Associates Degree or equivalent is preferred
    • Ability to speak, ready and write in English and Spanish
    • Experience working with children; special needs preferred
    • Demonstrates appropriate English usage of punctuation, spelling, and grammar
    • Ability to frequently stand, sit, reach, stoop, bend, kneel, squat and twist
    • Ability to operate technology such as chrome book, calculator, copy machine, telephone, and other school equipment in a safe and efficient manner
    • Ability to make independent decisions, respond to numerous requests, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective and professional relationships with others
