Brown and Caldwell Constructors is seeking an Onsite Construction Manager with an established track record to oversee onsite project operations. The Onsite CM will be responsible for all field operations on the project site including site safety, schedule, quality, subcontractor field coordination, logistics, labor cost and productivity, etc. BCC seeks a candidate that understands the importance of completing these tasks in service of delivering projects to completion in a timely and profitable manner. The Onsite CM must collaborate with the Project Director, Project Engineer, and Project Manager and is responsible for keeping them accurately and fully informed of the field status of the project, particularly regarding cost, schedule, quality, safety, and issues. The Onsite CM will direct all Subcontractors on the project, is expected train and mentoring other staff as necessary, and will assist with Project initiatives requiring their field expertise.
Specific duties of the Onsite CM may include:
* Be a great partner with the project staff and lead the ThinkSharp culture initiatives.
* Ensure concrete, civil, and mechanical plan reviews are done for project.
* Lead and monitor work planning process for all necessary trade partners.
* Review, understand, and monitor material & equipment budgets and negotiate purchases.
* Coordinate equipment rentals with project manager to maximize usage. Review and coordinate billings with other project staff to assure accurate accounting and billing of rentals and material purchases.
* Consistently monitor project costs (labor, materials, and equipment) and identify opportunities for improvement/savings and problem areas which may result in cost overruns. Review with project manager and/or project director possible solutions to correct or mitigate negative trends; promptly implement selected corrective actions.
* Develop and maintain a working relationship with clients/owners, engineers and inspectors.
* Provide leadership in the project's quality program. Identify and encourage new methods and procedures to be implemented in the field. Institute pre-installation conferences with trades prior to commencement of any work.
* Promote a positive safety culture through leadership. Take ownership of the safety and accident prevention programs. Participate in daily safety meetings and perform regular site inspections. Mitigate unsafe conditions and promptly implement corrective actions in coordination with the H&S team.
* Develop project management plans such as the site-specific quality plan and site-specific health and safety plan and manage their implementation onsite.
* Conduct weekly coordination meetings with subcontractors to review project status and discuss items such as safety, quality, change management, scheduling issues, etc. Monitor the issuance of meeting minutes to appropriate parties in a timely manner.
* Assist in the maintenance of the project schedule. Update weekly based upon actual job progress. Discuss scheduling needs and coordination requirements with the Subcontractors. Work closely with project manager on monthly schedule updates based upon actual job progress, including providing actual start and finish dates with remaining durations.
* Assist project engineers during preconstruction and submittal process. Identify items or areas which may need special attention and/or review.
* Interface with Owner/Architect/Consultants on field conflicts or problems. Pursue resolution in a timely and professional manner.
* Assist the business development and marketing departments, as necessary, to pursue new work opportunities.
Qualifications
* BS Degree in Construction Management or Engineering (Civil, Environmental, Chemical, Mechanical, etc.) or related field preferred, but not required.
* Current New Jersey Water Treatment Operator Certification, or Current Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification/License, preferred but not required.
* Operations and maintenance experience preferred but not required.
* Experience with the Startup and Commissioning of plant processes and equipment
* Troubleshooting of plant processes and equipment.
* Minimum of 5 years of increasing responsibility, professional experience in the design and construction administration of industrial water and wastewater facilities with previous construction manager responsibility, required.
* Thorough knowledge of construction practices involved with major wastewater construction projects.
* Candidate will have strong verbal/written communication skills and ability to work well both independently and on a team.
* Candidate must have a current and valid driving license and good driving record.
* Knowledge of standard professional software such as MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.
