Job Summary and Qualifications

The Surgical Services Clinical Nurse Coordinator is responsible for members of their designated service line including Registered Nurses, First Assistants, Surgical Technologists, and Second Assistants. Responsible for delivery of perioperative nursing care to surgical patients. Maintain aseptic and safe environment in the operating room. Performs circulator, scrub and first assistant roles as competent. Provides direction and acts as resource to members of the specialty team to ensure comprehensive and safe patient care. Maintains full accountability to ensure that supplies and equipment are available to perform cases within their assigned specialty. Promotes customer service initiatives. Demonstrated knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served. Requires interpersonal skills to successfully interact with patients and their families, physicians, peers, and any other personnel required for patient care.

What you will do in this role:

  • Assumes responsibility for clinical and resource management of unit (24 hrs/day).
  • Assumes responsibility for employee, physician, and patient satisfaction
  • Assumes responsibility for standards of practice and for quality of patient care
  • Promotes hospital customer service initiatives
  • Ensures staff within their service line provide required licensure/certification within hospital required timeframe
  • Completes yearly performance reviews with each staff member and routine employee rounding
  • Administration of disciplinary action per policy with management assistance/approval
  • Acts as a resource person and provided direction to other members of the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive and safe patient care
  • Assists team members in selecting and preparing routine supplies, instruments, and equipment for procedures
  • Works with manager/assistant director in development of procedures and policies for the dept.
  • Helps to develop and monitor competences for all staff members
  • Responsible for completion of daily staffing assignments and coordinating specialty vendors and or instruments for assigned cases
  • Performs in circulating and/or scrub role as needed and trained
  • Serves as role model and resource for patient advocate and uses sterile conscience in the operating suite
  • Rounds daily in all rooms in specialty to ensure needed equipment, supplies, and staff are present for efficient flow in the OR suite
  • Accurate and complete documentation of all patient care
  • Follows policies and procedures for care of the surgical patient
  • Promotes customer service initiatives

What qualifications you will need:

Must have experience working as an OR Circulator! Strong experience in Ortho and Urology.

  • Current RN Licensure in good standing
  • BLS
  • ACLS/PALS preferred but not required
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing - BSN preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience and 1-2 years of progressive management experience preferred.
