Shift: Day Shift, Monday to Friday (5x8) Physical Setting: Outpatient Standard Number of OR Suites: 5 Cases per Month: 400-450 Job Description: The East Hills Surgery Center, the first ambulatory surgery center for St. Francis Hospital and Catholic Health Services of Long Island, is seeking a motivated OR Registered Nurse to join our team. We specialize in same day outpatient surgeries, offering a range of specialties including Orthopedics, Hand Surgery, Neurosurgery, Joint Replacement, ENT, General Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive surgery, Podiatry, and Pain Management. Our surgeons provide care to both adult and pediatric members of our community. Responsibilities:
- ssess patients prior to surgery (e.g., NPO status) and alleviate their concerns
- Gather all supplies needed for the operation
- ssume responsibility for keeping the operating room sterilized
- Position and prepare the patient on the operating table
- Pass medical instruments or other objects to the surgeon during the operation
- Monitor the patient's vital signs to detect anomalies
- Evaluate the patient in postoperative phases
- dhere to safety standards and precautions
- ssume duties within or out of the sterile field as assigned
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an operating room nurse (circulating and scrub)
- Excellent knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques
- Solid understanding of patient safety and precautions
- In-depth knowledge of surgical operation procedures
- Outstanding organizational ability
- great team player with excellent communication skills
- Cool-tempered with emotional and physical stamina
- Diploma in nursing and a valid RN license
- BLS Certification
