Operations Field Service TechnicianOur client operates a small-scale liquefaction facility in Florida that focuses on the transportation, marine, and hospitality industries both in-state and in the Caribbean.Location:Miami, FLSummary: The Operations Field Service Technician will be responsible for overseeing all field operations, managing outside operators, and ensuring safe and efficient operations of the LNG Liquefaction facility. The technician will work closely with other supervisors, managers, and directors across the Operations & Maintenance departments to optimize plant performance.Job Duties
- Safety and Operations Oversight:
- Drive a proactive approach to maintaining safe plant operations by identifying unsafe practices and conditions, and ensuring corrective actions are taken.
- Ensure all safety and environmental requirements are met, and that documentation is accurately completed.
- Act as the first line of incident control, leading emergency responses and ensuring the plant operates within all permit requirements.
- Oversee Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, ensuring all outside operators are properly trained and compliant with LOTO standards to safely isolate and maintain equipment.
- Field Operations Control:
- Supervise all outside LNG operators, ensuring proper execution of daily tasks and adherence to safety protocols.
- Manage outside operations, ensuring all equipment is properly shut down, isolated, and maintained according to operational procedures and LOTO requirements.
- Maintain oversight of all field activities, ensuring operators follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) during routine operations, shutdowns, and emergency situations.
- Operational Efficiency:
- Work to optimize plant operations, maximizing throughput, and ensuring production targets are met.
- Develop and implement methods to increase operating efficiency and ensure that plant performance meets quality specifications.
- Supervise the transfer of ownership of equipment between Operations and Maintenance, determining and prioritizing maintenance needs, and writing associated work orders.
- Training and Mentorship:
- Provide technical support and mentoring to shift operators, ensuring they are trained in the correct operational procedures, including safety protocols like LOTO.
- Develop individual performance improvement plans with operators and guide their development through on-the-job training.
- Provide informal mentoring, conduct annual performance reviews, and hold operators accountable for performance and behavior.
- Emergency Response and Incident Command:
- Respond to alarms and process upsets as directed by the Control Room Operator.
- Lead emergency management operations during incidents outside of normal working hours and assist with incident command as needed.
- Operational Planning and Communication:
- Participate in daily strategy planning with the Production management team to identify limitations and deficiencies, working to overcome these challenges to meet production targets.
- Coordinate with internal departments to share information, including shift changes, and ensure smooth operations across the plant.
- Oversee log entries, ensuring they are detailed and accurately reflect any issues or corrective actions taken during the shift.
- Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure compliance with all operational policies and procedures and that all tasks performed during the shift are in line with these guidelines.
- Complete required documentation, including maintenance work orders, logs, and reports for all activities performed.
- Monitor and enforce adherence to safety and operational standards, including LOTO requirements, during all maintenance and field activities.
- Leadership and Collaboration:
- Foster a culture of safety and operational excellence by communicating effectively with all levels of staff, from field operators to senior management.
- Lead and coordinate the activities of field staff, ensuring that all personnel are equipped and trained to perform their duties efficiently and safely.
- Collaborate with the integrated commissioning/start-up teams during the commissioning and startup phases of the LNG facility, providing leadership and technical expertise.
Job Requirements
- 5+ years in operations and maintenance within a production or heavy industrial environment
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Extensive experience and training in LOTO procedures and safe work practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work with a diverse team of technicians and engineers.
- Strong understanding of LNG operations and the technical aspects of LNG production and maintenance.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
