Job Overview We are looking for an Operations intern to join our team for a ten week period lasting from June-August. This internship requires 40 hours of on-site work per week. The ideal candidate will be enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Management, or related field. Our paid internship program provides an opportunity for students to assist the team in driving the continuous improvement efforts to improve key business results in safety, quality, efficiencies, labor costs, packaging costs, SPC consumption, and production yields.
Job Responsibilities - Develop standardized settings and boundaries on operational equipment to reduce variable settings.
- Use data collection to improve change overs, center-lining, and standardized recipes.
- Use data collection to reduce film usage, trim, and giveaway.
- Assist in building Infinity QS database and work instructions.
- Use continuous improvement tools and data analysis to determine top drivers of downtime and costs in Production. Identify root cause and corrective actions to drive improvement.
- Participate in a variety of business projects and opportunities as part of the GLC Intern Association.
- Participate in a variety of personal and professional developmental workshops.
- Participate and execute in a community service project in alignment with GLC's corporate social responsibility initiative.
- Up to 20% travel required (if needed).
- All GLC interns are expected to perform any assignment or job task according to the stated safety policies and procedures.
- All GLC interns are expected to produce our products in a manner that exceeds the quality and value expectation of our customers and consumers by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, Policies and Procedures outlined in our Safe Quality Food Program.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the manager.
Required Education and Experience - Actively enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Management, or related field.
- Only undergraduate students will be considered for this role.
- Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Must be legally authorized to work for a company in the U.S. without sponsorship both now and in the future.
Preferred Education and Experience - Problem solving skills.
- Direct Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication, presentation, and team skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Self-motivated with a high level of initiative, able to work well independently.
Working Conditions • Work is performed across multiple sites, office setting, warehouse floor (cold environment) and in various locations as needed. • Occasional exposure to industrial operations including: temperature extremes from approximately 35ºF to 100ºF; noise levels in excess of 85 dB; moisture and moving machinery.
