Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Operations Lead to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing operation of the direct melt furnace and related processes including batching and atomization/bead forming, this position requires strong leadership skills and while managing various operational tasks. Job Summary The operations Lead performs the ongoing operation of the direct melt furnace and related processes including batching and atomization/bead forming, Essential Duties & Responsibilities • Has significant responsibility for the safe operation of the plant, monitoring, noting and responding appropriately to unsafe • Routinely monitors environmental conditions in the plant and takes appropriate investigative & corrective actions as needed. Has significant responsibility to ensure compliance with environmental permits and Good Neighbor principles by monitoring baghouse emissions and other potential fugitive sources of dust. • Performs shiftily, daily, weekly and monthly environmental checks and recordkeeping as required. • Performs gas safety checks on the furnace and cullet dryer. • Conducts minimum monthly furnace audits and records results. Notifies management of any concerns. • Assists and/or when Process Improvement Tech is not available, builds/rebuilds bowl assemblies as needed. • Assists and/or when Process Improvement Tech is not available, makes firebox repairs. • Assists and/or when Process Improvement Tech is not available, makes minor furnace system repairs. • Attends production meetings-provides input for safety, environmental, quality and cost improvement and for otherwise • Ensures plant operates within established safety, environmental, process, quality, and efficiency parameters-directs team • Attends scheduled plant problem solving meetings and actively participates/presents solutions to identified deficiencies. • Directly communicates/coordinates with Management/Maintenance to ensure all scheduled maintenance is completed. • Responsible for ensuring their team complies with all plant health, safety, and housekeeping standards. • Ensures required department material inventories are conducted, coordinates with raw material coordinator, process • Must understand production reporting requirements and must have a good knowledge of the various raw material and • Performs routine visual and audible inspections of all equipment to ensure proper operation. • Must be familiar with all material processing flows and be able to troubleshoot basic problems as they occur • Certified and operates the forklift in a safe and efficient manner; performs shift checks on forklift and refueling as required • Certified and operates the front-end loader in a safe and efficient manner; performs shift checks on loader and refueling as • Performs other duties as directed Education • High School Diploma/GED Experience • 10-15 years' experience with operation of a glass melting furnace and container glass manufacturing operation • 3 to 5 years forklift operations and/or certification preferred Skills & Knowledge • Experience in plant safety systems such as Confined Space entry, Hot Work permitting and Lockout/Tagout of industrial equipment • Basic skills in areas of interfacing with industrial instrumentation and PLCs. • Ability to use computer - basic computer skills • Works well with others - Good Teamwork skills • Strong Work Ethic • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions • Detail and Organizational Skills Training Certification/Registrations • Forklift certification preferred Working Conditions • Manufacturing Plant Environment (Non- Climate Control) • Glass Manufacturing Plant environment with high ambient temperatures Join us as an Operations Lead where you can make a significant impact on our team's success while developing your career in a supportive environment!
