Boston-based business that has been growing and financially stable for decades is looking for an Operation/Logistics Manager to lead a team. This role is normally Monday to Friday, on-site, but occasional weekends may be needed due to fluctuations in business.

In this role, you will be responsible for end-to-end operations leadership including safety, training, inventory, food production, shipping, and receiving. You must enjoy being the “command-and-control” expert who is cool and calm under pressure and executes with precision to ensure our clients receive legendary products and services. We pride ourselves on ensuring the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of every order. To be successful in this position you will need proven operation/logistics leadership, good judgment, and accurate administrative skills as well as the ability to delegate, motivate, coach, and train staff; and promote teamwork in a fast-paced environment. This is a hands-on position that may require lifting of up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.

Core Duties:

  • Working closely with all departments to ensure that product is moving through the plant. Ensuring on-time and accurate deliveries to our clients.
  • Ability to interpret financial and operational data.
  • Familiarity with inventory control, food safety, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and people development skills; broad knowledge of operations and logistic methods, and procedures
  • Organizing all daily packing lists and labels for customer shipments.
  • Leading team to execute on-time accurate deliveries.
  • Participating and collaborating with other departments to improve the workflow.
  • Overseeing and spot-checking the auditing/double-checking of orders in process,
  • Troubleshooting daily issues, working collaboratively with all departments to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all work.
  • Able to forecast and plan for ebbs and flows in business. Able to put together clear and concise recommendations for needed equipment/CAPEX.
  • Constantly assessing the order fulfillment process and workflow and recommending and implementing changes for improved operating efficiency.
  • Monitoring orders for unusual trends and advise internal partners of known discrepancies or market conditions related to ingredients and supplies.
  • Evaluating excess and obsolete stock to determine how to manage inventory.
  • Ensuring proper receiving of all items including documents are properly and timely reviewed, signed, and processed in accordance with company policies.
  • Leading the team to process regular physical inventories, reviewing results, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Creating a training matrix and developing a schedule for all safety and equipment-related requirements.
  • Maintaining a clean and orderly work area and plant at all times.
  • Ensuring all staff are accountable for their work, create cross training plans and assign additional tasks to employees daily and follow up to ensure proper completion.
  • Creating a positive and cohesive culture between all staff and internal stakeholders.
  • Responsible for team hiring- Operations and drivers, personnel management, and necessary disciplinary actions.
  • Being engaged with our business and can switch gears easily when needed.
  • Utilizing our internal business reporting systems to provide the best efficiencies.

Experience:

  • 5 plus years of operations management and logistic leadership experience
  • Ability to provide leadership and guidance to team members.
  • AS degree required, BS or MBA preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; ability to learn new software.
  • Experience in developing and analyzing delivery needs and equipment based on data.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma and lean manufacturing methods a plus.
  • Experience with creating Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Knowledge of EHS and OSHA standards.
  • Ability to manage department training records.
