Repair Shop Operations Manager - Equipment Repair Facility

Amotec conducting a search for an experienced Repair Shop Operations Manager on behalf of a leading fluid power and motion control technologies company. The Shop Manager will lead a railroad and oil & gas industry equipment repair facility located in the Buffalo, NY area. This pivotal role is responsible for guiding and directing repair operations to meet both customer and company objectives.

Position Overview:

The Repair Shop Service Manager will lead the operations team, working closely with shop foremen, district managers, and inside sales to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. This role demands strong leadership, strategic planning, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the operations team, providing supervision, training, and coaching to ensure accurate and timely work completion.
  • Develop and implement training and development plans to assimilate new associates and conduct periodic performance reviews.
  • Oversee hydraulic repair shop operations, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective processes.
  • Provide operational and sales support to branch account managers and act as the primary contact for customer disputes.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate all repair activities to meet production and manufacturing standards while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of customer accounts, identifying critical issues and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee safety programs in collaboration with the Human Resources department.
  • Participate in strategic planning and execution of branch location operations, facilities, and expansion.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • 2-year Technical Degree required; 4-year degree in Technical, Marketing, or Business preferred.
  • Minimum of 6+ years of customer service experience with a successful track record, and at least 2+ years in a supervisory or lead position in a repair shop.
  • Proven ability to attract and retain talent, with strong problem-solving, coaching, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and technical competence in technology/service offerings.
