Title: Operations Manager
Location: Los Angeles, CA (onsite)
We are looking for an Operations Manager with a background in Chemical Manufacturing. The Operations manager will be supporting the Advanced materials Division located in Los Angeles. The right candidate will provide oversight to the day-to-day operations of the facility. This includes overseeing all Production and Maintenance activities. The individual will focus in driving high performance in Process Safety, Environmental Compliance, Quality and Efficiency. Second, they will lead specific initiatives and projects in pursuit of site continuous improvement to transform the site into a world class aerospace service facility. The ideal candidate will be a transformational leader with strong business acumen and lean, six sigma.
Skills and knowledge
- Practical application of Process Safety, OSHA, and EPA regulations.
- Knowledge of chemistry and engineering principles; supervisory/management ('people') skills; ability to do problem and decision analysis.
- Set priorities to respond to customer needs and business strategy, including meeting the Schedule Adherence targets.
- Review financial statements and data to improve profitability. Prepare and control operational budgets.
- Provide guidance to/and manage production scheduling activities
- Experience with OEE, working knowledge of CI skills including Lean and Six Sigma, Green or Black belt preferred
- Manufacturing experience in the aerospace sector desired
- Good communication skills required as this position is the interface between the site (shop floor through management) and other business functions, i.e., Customer Service, Sales, Demand Management, Supply Chain, Quality, etc., as well as key customers.
- Strong interpersonal & team-oriented skills.
- Requires solid leadership skills and the ability to manage both vertically and horizontally.
- Able to deal with ambiguity and priority setting. Displays initiative, is an agent of change, and self-motivated to exceed expectations.
- Experience in a global, matrixed organization is preferred
- Use of SAP, LIMS, and other math/engineering programs as needed.
- Must be fluent in English (verbal and written)
- Must demonstrate effective, logical, independent, and superior engineering analysis and reasoning capabilities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering, in Chemical Engineering, or BS Mechanical Engineering.
- MBA (is a plus)
- Ten (10) years minimum, preferable in process plant operations activity
- Chemical manufacturing experience.
This position may require some involvement with materials regulated under the Resource conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). This involvement may require an understanding of applicable rules and procedures associated with RCRA wastes. A combination of training methods, e.g., Computer-based Training, Classroom, and/or On-the-job training, will be provided prior to any such involvement with RCRA regulated wastes.
Salary range $140,000-180,000 per year.
