This includes maintaining safety of all associates, achieving production objectives in an efficient, cost effective manner and ensuring thatall quality standards are met.Essential Functions:* Manage daily manufacturing operation of both first and second processing on night shift.* Ensuring production goals and standards are met, including safety of associates and quality of product.* Ensure all Plant operations and business is conducted in a safe and controlled environment.* Ensure all quality and regulatory standards, specifications and policies are met or exceeded.* Collaborates with production planning and materials management to optimize scheduled attainment and customer service.* Review and analyze production reports to ensure achievement of safety, quality and product cost.* Ensure efficiency goals are met or exceeded.* Set objectives and goals for Further Processing management team and operation and monitor performance versus objectives.* Develop action plans to address opportunities for improvement.* Drive management engagement, training, and development to maximize safety, manufacturing, quality, and productivity goal attainment.* Coach, mentor, and develop managers and supervisors and develop succession plan for Further Processing area.* Collaborates with Human Resources in recruiting and retention efforts.* Communicate with Director on status of area i.e.; safety, production, quality, and human resources.* Manage overall operating budget in line with current business plan.Additional Responsibilities:* Participate and facilitate participation in all safety, human resources, etc. incentives within the facility.* Participate in facility safety audits, accident investigations, and other safety meetings.* Participates in plant cuttings to ensure that quality products are being produced.* Manage the daily operation in the absence of the department manager.* Perform all other duties as necessary to ensure efficiency of operation.Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:* Basic knowledge of the food manufacturing industry.* Knowledge of USDA regulations and requirements.* Basic knowledge of OSHA regulations.* Basic knowledge of human resources principles and employment law.* Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.* Strong computer application skills including the utilization of mainframe, network and PC business application software.Education and Experience* BS in Business, Poultry, Animal or Food Science, or related field or equivalent training and experience required.* 5 or more years of work experience at a manager level in food processing preferably in the Further Processing EnvironmentWorking Conditions:Approximately 70% of this individual's time will be spent in a manufacturing environment, which is cold and wet.
