We are working together to make businesses safer, more sustainable and more productive.Role Overview:The Operations Manager is a crucial leadership role within the organization. The individual in this position will be responsible for leading the Manufacturing Management Team, including Production Supervisors, Team Leads, and Direct Labor. They will be responsible for overseeing production operations, ensuring safety and compliance with health and environmental regulations, managing budgets, and developing and implementing plans for the business unit, which comprises of multiple value streams. The Operations Manager will also be responsible for identifying and eliminating waste, continuously monitoring, and improving the flow of materials and information and leading the team to achieve the safe production of high-quality products on-time and at the lowest possible cost. Additionally, the Operations Manager will be responsible for significant inter-departmental collaboration and communication, assigning duties and coordinating activities of supervisors and/or employees engaged in production. This role occasionally interacts with suppliers, customers and other external contacts, the ideal candidate will have experience in both production management and value stream management, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record of success in implementing continuous improvement in a manufacturing or production environment.Work Environment: University Park, IL OnsiteKey Responsibilities:
  • Lead manufacturing team and manage production operations.
  • Ensure safety and compliance with external regulations and internal framework.
  • Ensure customer expectations around Quality and Delivery are met.
  • Develop and manage budgets and business unit cost and inventory plans.
  • Develop and implement future state Value Stream Transformation plans.
  • Identify and eliminate waste through Lean continuous improvement.
  • Improve and monitor materials and information flow to increase collaboration.
  • Develop and implement performance and development goals for team members.
  • Coordinate activities of supervisors and employees engaged in production.
  • Interact with suppliers, customers, and external contacts.
  • Ensure processes are aligned with company policies.
  • Monitor and report on production performance.
  • Other duties as required.

  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) software
  • Experience with manufacturing resource planning systems (MRP)
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting tools
Expertise requiredEducation and Experience
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as manufacturing, engineering, or business management is required.
  • At least 5-7 years of experience in production management and value stream management is required.
  • Proven track record of success in leading teams and implementing continuous improvement in a manufacturing or production environment is required.
  • Experience in working with suppliers, customers, and other external contacts, knowledge of safety and compliance regulations, budgeting, and financial management are important.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing methodologies, TQM, process improvement techniques, inventory management and control are required.
  • The role may require some travel, and being on call for unexpected situations and the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment is required.
