Overview About the Role: The Operations Manager will support and lead the entire Brownsville Stevedore and Terminal Operations. This role will fulfill a leadership role in support of the General Manager for all aspects of the operations. This role demands a proactive self-starter willing and able tostep up and fill any necessary role required to deliver optimal results. Qualifications What You Will Need Ten (10) years of strong supervisory experience in an industrial environment with a large workforce of 50 or more employees in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Experience in vessel cargo operations, warehouse, rail, construction, oilfield, offshore platform, or refinery is a plus. Maritime, business, engineering, industrial degree, or maritime background is preferred but not required. Fast motor personality who can lead, motivate, problem solve, make quick decisions, and take fast action with quickly changing priorities while not sacrificing the safety of personnel or cargo. Ability to recognize strong performers, put them in a position to succeed, and recognize weak links and reinforce, retrain, or replace them with other assets. Use processes to standardize job functions to provide consistency and uniformity to repetitive operations. Must obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC). Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Exposed to all outdoor environmental factors such as extreme heat, rain, wind, cold, and high humidity during day and night shifts. Employee is frequently required to talk and hear. Employee is occasionally required to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee is continuously exposed to dust, fumes, and airborne particles. Employee is exposed to a moderate to high level of noise. May be required to work on holidays and weekends, as necessary. Responsibilities What Will You Do? Promote and lead a safety-first culture. Coordinate, plan, and lead all functional teams to provide efficient customer services in the stevedoring terminal handling and any other service provided Communication consistently and professionally with customers, stakeholders, direct reports, employees, cross-functional departments, and third-party interests. Monitor and analyze all performance, financial, and customer satisfaction metrics inputs Participate in monthly financial reviews. Strive to improve all operations through constant review, application of new tools and technology, and identify sources of inefficiency or waste. Participate in formal and informal training, skills development, mentoring, job fitness, and general workforce excellence.
