What you will doEnsures all associates comprehend and execute safe work practices by performing regular safety observations and having regular safety discussionsIdentifies and resolves safety issues within department; completes safety observations; addresses safety issues escalated from associatesAssists associates with HR related issues including questions/concerns with attendance, pay, benefits, job changes, voluntary terminations, I-9 verification, unemployment claims, and workplace accommodationsCommunicates clear expectations for associates and provides timely and constructive feedbackMonitors and manages associate performance, ensuring that associates are executing assigned tasks accurately and as scheduledDetermines the daily workload (production volume) for department as established by the facility and corporate support; monitors inventory movements in the facility frequently throughout the dayMonitors the flow of inventory in the facility frequently throughout the dayMonitors staffing needs for department/shift and adjusts work to be accomplished on the shift according to available resources and skill setsConducts shift briefing, including safety topics, upcoming events and demand for the dayExpedites receiving, picking and shipping of priority product (e.g., Special Order Express (S.O.E.) or Special-Order Sales (S.O.S.))Completes all incident reports for in-house product damage, near misses and injuries, and equipment incidents; completes accident reports for associate injuriesDirects resolution to equipment issues (for example, replace failed equipment or contact Maintenance)Identifies and assists in implementing process improvements or new processes launched from corporatePrepares shift turnover documentationMentors and builds relationships with associates, recording planned encounters when needed, and completing annual reviewsHolds associates in department accountable to expected behaviors and performance levelsWorks with associates to build a work environment of engagement and inclusionIdentifies and takes action on needs for efficient operations, safety issues, and bottlenecksParticipates in the process of hiring talented individuals for the teamSets goals and communicates clear expectations for associates and provides timely and constructive feedbackMonitors and manages associate performance, holding them accountable to expected behaviors and performance levelsProvides resources and support to associates as neededCommunicates effectively with associates regarding business objectives or current issuesSets associates up for success, helping them achieve or exceed key performance indicators, including safety, performance and budget targets; records daily performance metricsProvides associates with coaching and meaningful developmental opportunities and prepares associates for upward promotion if interestedApproves off standard hours for associates; ensures accurate accounting of performance for work teamDiscusses and resolves issues with and between associatesResponds to incidents or injuries and ensures first aid response takes place as neededInterviews and assists HR in the hiring of personnel; initiates job requisitions to maintain target staffing levelsEnsures associates receive proper trainingHelps associates on the team transition through changeThis position manages/supervises peopleRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Industrial Engineering, Business, or related field OR 4 years of experience in distribution center/warehouse operations or related areaPreferred Qualifications:Experience building a culture of safety among subordinates and peersLeadership experience with direct report responsibilityExperience mentoring and coaching othersExperience monitoring the work of others to ensure qualityExperience working with and communicating to leadership all levels of the organizationPrevious leadership roles in other Lowe's supply chain facilities, or leadership roles in Corporate-led initiativesExperience with software applications such as Microsoft Office and/or a Warehouse Management SystemAbout Lowe'sLowe's Companies, Inc.
